Wink Home Heating Oil Prices

I was checking now so I am prepared for the winter and my oil company is charging $4.119. What about yours? Do you think it will go down if I wait until June or July?

Well, gas is only going to continue to go up in price. Does that mean heating oil will also? We used to heat by oil years ago, now we have natural gas. I am guessing it is not going to get cheaper.

I filled up both tanks last month at 3.29 gal.
We didnt use both tanks, but we also have a woodburner. We burned 2 cords or wood at $100 per cord (bought last summer)
I plan on ordering my firewood in june or July to avoid the rush and price increases...So far . it seems I have been smart to do this.
I estimate, for my 4 bedroom home, in Northeastern PA I spent about $650 for the season. I kept receipts and stuff, as I am really trying to track this.
We are also considering replacing our little woodburner with one of those big outdoor jobs. I already called the zoning officer, and we meet the requirements, just need to pay $40 for the permit and get the inspections.
I am also looking at a home size windmill, where we again meet the requirements because we have an extra lot.

Long Island here....my last delivery I still had last year's cap and I received it for $2.59 (about 3 months ago). I renegotiated my contract this year and was able to get a cap of $3.29. They delivered oil yesterday. I had a problem with my burner, the repairman came out (under the contract) and said that without a cap Petro was delivering oil at $4.70!

So my advice if you must use oil, do some hard negotiating. When I called them a few months ago, they wouldn't give me a good price so I said I will just go and call other companies.(I had been a customer for 11 years.) Within 2 hours they called back and offered me $3.49. I kept at them, saying is that the best you can do? Then they finally said $3.29. My sister didn't bargain as hard and got a higher rate with the same company the same week.

we heat mainly with wood that we get for free off our proprty. we do have a oil furance but its only filled ever other yr. we have well over half a drum full from last yr left. but just a heads up. people around this area have had folks stealing their oil outa the drums. we have a lock on ours now after someone stole ours about 4 yrs ago.
