Fine Arts Fiesta, I am freaked out!!

My son (college age) was at the Fine Arts Fiesta last night with his buddies, and he called me...
"Mom, there is a picture of Grandpa here, called "outdoor Barber", and the guy is selling it for $300"...

I dont know how many of you know, but I lost my dad last Fathers Day. He turned 65 on Friday, and Sunday I was home, with his meatloaf, cake, presents and party waiting for him to come (I spent every Sunday with my Dad) . He never came, I had DH go down and he found him dead in bed.
I was/am heartbroken, (huge daddy's girl), plus I spent so much time with him. This was also the first time I ever had to take care of a funeral all on my own. I still cry almost every day.

Well, DS sends me several pics on my cell of the picture, and no doubt, its Daddy...Its questionable who's hair he is cutting (My dad was a barber his whole life, and had his own shop while I was growing up). From what I saw, it looked like a little guy, maybe even my younger ds, but DS (at the Fiesta) said it looked like an old man. My Dad used to go to nursing homes with his barber kit and cut all the old guys (some his former customers) for free.

DS put the guy on the phone who was running the booth (he was not the artist), and I am hoping this guy calls me back. I am hoping to get a copy of the print for less ($300 is a bit steep, but we will see)

Keep your fingers crossed that this guy will cut me a bit of a break....

I wish my Dad were alive to see this

.

Wow, how incredible that your DS would happen upon this! Maybe it's some kind of good omen. At any rate, it's an honorable testament to your father that the artist was moved enough by him to immortalize him in his art.

I'm sorry for your loss, I know next month will be hard for you. It sounds like he was a good man and father, not everyone is as fortunate. You were blessed.

I'm so glad your son saw the picture. I hope the vendor will give it to you or sell it for a nominal price.

I am so sorry for your loss.. I lost my father and step father within a year or so of each other. It was hard but I would see this as a sign of some sort. Maybe he is telling you he really is ok... and you can rest assured...

Good luck to you!!

Well, I didnt hear from the artist, and we went camping this weekend (Bucktail Camping Resort - Camping in Pennsylvania: Frontpage for those that would be interested....)
My mom and my brother both went down to the Fiesta, and neither could find the picture. I was depressed all weekend, and thought maybe the guy will call in the future (the last day is today)
I just walked through the door about an hour ago, and there is the picture hanging on my wall. My brother bought it for me. He has a post it stuck on it that says "Happy 40th Birthday Brenda, Love John".
I called him, was crying, and I still cant believe he did this for me.
SO, I have the picture, hanging on my wall where it belongs

Thanks for your kind words....I am so lucky to have my brother (he asked me if it made up for all the times he beat me up ((as a kid of course )

Sounds really silly, but looking at it makes me feel kind of good. My dad would have been tickled pink to know this was there.
Also, DH has a digital camera, (I stick to my 35 mm)...I will ask him if he can take a pic.(he is at work)..then how do you post??
Thanks!!

Oh my, I have goose bumps reading your posts.

Brendasm1, you are truly blessed, and I know this might sound funny, but I do believe your father had a hand in this.

How incredibly awesome! Your story really touched me and made me cry. What a blessing to have come across something so special.
I am also a daddy's girl and can't imagine the day when I have to say goodbye to my dad. He's 66 and currently going through treatment for cancer and I pray every day that we'll have many more years with him. I would love to be able to take him to Greece to see where his grandpa came from...he loved his grandpa so much and still misses him 59 years later...
