I have to brag alittle on my DD....:)

I'm sorry for bragging, but I'm so proud of her that everyone on the Island is sick of hearing me probably so I brought it to the Cafe..lol.

My county has started a new program this year for the upcoming 9th graders. We now have a College High School. They accepted 75 kids from our school and another local middle school to be the first ones. My 14 DD applied and got in. Quite a few kids from the Island got in. When they finish their 4 year high school, they will also have a 2 year College Degree completed. This will help them in their quest for a future. Last night they announced that for every child that graduates this program, they will receive a 2 year COMPLETELY paid scholarship to NC State! 4 years of College FREE! She is so excited. She wants to be a Vet when she graduates and this will definetly help her This school will be very hard but rewarding for her. I'm so proud of her.

Okay again sorry for bragging, but I knew my mycoupon friends would share my joy

I always thought of "bragging" as making people around you feel inferior - on purpose. You're a Momma with a LOTTA joy right now and you want to share it with the world! No shame there at all.

Congrats to your daughter!

No need to apologize for being proud of your child! That is wonderful, and how great a paid scholarship would be.

Congrats!

CONGRATS!! Our local schools here just started a program like that. Is your DD going to go to the college for the college classes or are they being held at the school??

I think that is a terrific opportunity for kids and that is awesome that your dd got into it!! And a vet is an amazing career... CONGRATS

Julieoh0712,

She'll be going to a school esp. created for the College courses. She'll be in all Honor classes, will start later than the other high school kids, get our earlier, will start school on August 4th but will be let out early in May. AND.. On August 4th, all the students will go to ECU (East Carolina University) for a class on trusting....rope climbing, falling backwards praying someone will catch ya, that type of class. The normal cost for each student will be almost $300 but the parents will pay on $15. The College High School will be picking up the tab. They will receive a laptop which all their homework etc will be done on throughout the year and I will only pay $5 for insurance. She is so excited. Not sure if I'm more excited than she or not...lol.

Thank you everyone for the kind words. I have two 18 yr olds that are graduating this year and college will be a struggle for me to even afford so this was TRULY A BLESSING!! All praise to God
