I so feel your pain. I work in the field two days per week and home the rest of the time and I feel like I can never catch up on the house work. I take days off to clean also because it is so hard to find the time. A friend of mine has a housekeeper that he has had for 25 years and she only charges them $35.00/week for cleaning. What I wouldn't give....... |

I have taken vacation days to clean the house, just for my own sanity. I can take the mess for just so long and then I feel like I am going to snap. My son is 17 but I think he is more of a slob now than when he was little. My house was always clean when he was little - I guess because I stayed up after he went to bed so I could clean. I was working fulltime and going to college 4 nights a week - and my house was always clean! Now I feel like I just can't keep up. He keeps his dirty clothes in his bedroom until he basically runs out of clothes and then dumps them in the laundry room and it is literally a MOUNTAIN of clothes. The last time he did this I couldn't even get to the washer. He will bring 20 glasses out of his bedroom and dump them in the sink so the clean dishes fairy will come. Sometimes I say to myself that when he is out on his own I will have a clean house and no one to clean up after. But then I realize the clean house will be mighty empty without him. |

Sometimes it bothers me more than other times (usually directly related to the time of the month )... We have very few visitor and if we do, I'll clean bathrooms and the areas of the house that guests will see. It is actually a running joke with my family if we start cleaning the bathroooms... "company coming over?" I am a tidy person by nature and most of my family are as well. But, we are not necessarily worried about the house being clean. After all, it is our home and part of being homey is for everyone's stuff to be scattered here and there. |

| It makes me absolutely crazy. The baby leaves an endless stream of STUFF, anything he can get his hands on is thrown on the floor. I walk thru the house and collect my makeup, brushes, . It seems like no matter how much I do, if you don't keep it up continuosly, your right back to square one. I guess you just have to keep it up nonstop. Lordy what I wouldn't do for a housekeeper, even just like one day a week. I'm glad I'm not alone. Sometimes I think, man, we just must be a bunch of slobs. So glad we are in good company!! |

I only have 2 DD at home now and they know that with 4 of us at home that I won't do it all alone. The girls are 18 and 11. DH needs to help more. When they come home and find piles on the couch of their stuff they know that these piles have to be taken care of before they take another breath! I am at the end of my rope when I start making piles. My 18 year old is the dishwasher and is very good about it. This morning she swept and vacumed all the floors. She is great. The 11 year old is the traditional "baby" and I have to get after her. Most everything that is around the house is compliments of her. We have a dog and she leaves her toys out all over but I have a basket I put it in and that is easy. She does like to take her toys to the top of the stairs and push them down. Very cute. |

OMG!! This is so funny! Thanks for the laugh (and the memory!) I remember everytime I would set the boys up with chores for the day (usually on a Saturday every now and then), they would all, one by one, come by and ask me "Mom, who's coming over?" LOL!!!! |

my house seems to stay a mess its just because we have accumilated so much stuff and it all has a meaning or purpose. alos my husband is an electrician and he takes cords off of stuff (lamps, tvs etc) that dont work but th ecord does and says ill use this i can splice it into a extension cord or make a multi adapter drives me nuts! but he has made plugs for christmas lights alot safer than what you buy in the stores

It drives me CRAZY!!!!!! I am a neat freak at heart and I have relly been slacking lately. We had a cleaning lady until last September, we were cutting back on expenses and that was $170 a month we didn't need to spend. I would LOVE LOVE LOVE to have her back, I loved having my clean house. It wasn't even that it was clean, but it forced me to clean up, pick up the toys, get things put away, that sort of thing, because "company" was coming and I didn't want the cleaning lady to see that we were slobs!

YES!!! I have the drawer bin things for everyone's "stuff" that I find laying around. Whatever is left in there come Sunday night/Monday morning is MINE.......!! It has helped a lot. Also, the kids have chores and everyone is expected to pitch in. I sometimes get overwhelmed with things, tho, and that is usually when I flip my lid. I deep clean one room a day, and the rest is just general pick up. That way we never really have to do too too much. It works for us.
