What is the stupidest thing you did today?

I really feel kind of stupid for doing this today (although I don't really regret it).

I spent the majority of my work day reconciling and predicting what we would do with our budget for the year. (The end of our year is June 30, and if we don't spend the money we were allocated, we lose it and will not get as much next year.)

So I was tired when the day was over. I stopped at the grocery store to pick up a few things for dinner. Got home and realized that I didn't have the hamburger buns that I thought I had in the freezer. So ... another trip to the store. When I pulled into the parking lot I saw two women and a boy trying to catch a dog. I didn't think much about it, but after grabbing the buns and walking out again, they were still at it, now with quite a few other people involved.

What do I do? Of course, I have to get involved. I walked over and the dog ran over to me. I reach down to grab it and get bitten. Do I know better than that?? OF COURSE I DO. I've owned dogs all my life and I know you should never grab a dog that is in distress. All I saw was all these people trying to catch it and it was such a small dog ... it couldn't hurt me, could it?

Anyway, in short, after a few more tries by various people, it ran across the street and the owners went running after it. I decided I should get home and stop the bleeding. Then, I think, WOW, I probably should have made sure it had it's rabies shots. Too late now, I guess. I'm hoping that since the woman had a fairly young son (I'd guess around 8 years old) they surely would have had the dog vaccinated. I have no idea who the owners are ... not even sure they spoke English. My hand is pretty swollen and sore, but they were clean puncture wounds. So I am going to believe everything is OK.

So, did anyone else do anything stupid today?????? Or am I the only stupid one today?

after reading the news you never know, I mean that one man kept his daughter locked up and repeatedly raped her for many years. normal people wouldnt even think of things like that, you was bitten by a dog which would be a much less of a crime.

I'm not sure what you mean, Valorian. I wasn't trying to say that a crime was commited against me. I was just saying I did a stupid thing and thought it would be interesting to see what other things people did today that might seem stupid to them.

I'm with you, Linda, I have no idea what she was talking about. But I'm thinking me calling the ex (or current, it's so confusing) doesn't come near either of those circumstances. Still wish I wouldn't have.

valorian, correct me if I'm wrong.
I think she meant that just because there was a young child in the house, it doesn't mean the parents are responsible enough to get the dog it's shots. You might want to check with your doctor over this bite.
I personally know a family that doesn't believe their dogs need shots. They have been reported, but they've been lucky so far. They haven't been fined yet. Our county has very lax dog laws right now, but that will be changing very soon. The county is in the process of updating them.

I don't think what you did was stupid at all. You were trying to be a kind citizen and help out someone in need. You were putting someone else's needs first, made a mistake and got bit.

Have you had a tetnus shot recently? If not, you need to have one. Watch your wound. If it gets red & puffy and the pain gets worse, get to your doctors. You may need antibiotics.

I dont think you trying to help get the dog and getting bitten is stupid, you were trying to be helpful and it was an accident.

Stupid is me putting my short on inside out and going shopping and not noticing it until I had been to 5 different places, that happened Thursday, I went to the bank, Target, Walmart, Aldi and Staples with my tank top inside out DH noticed it finally after our last stop, I felt really stupid after that.

Please get a tetanus shot and have the bite checked out, we had a case here in the complex where someone got bit by a cat who had all its shots, but the bite got really badly infected. Just please get the bite checked out.

op I hope your hand is feeling better!

And I did something way stupid today -dumped the dirty contents of the catbox in a big brown box that I was filling up with trash as I cleaned house..dragged the brown box upstairs & outside thru the garage, about 20 feet..then realized the bottom of it had broken, had a trail of nasty stinky old cat litter going down ALL my stairs and across the rug. gross....it's inside the house, outside the house, on the wood floor, on the rug, on the concrete outside. gag!

OP, hope your hand is ok.

My stupid thing today:
I was mowing, (have a zero radius turn mower thingy, not sure what it's exactly called, lol) so I wanted to get all around the swing set, very close as I always do. I have to go under the swings and teeter totter, as always. The teeter totter usually catches on the lawn mower and I back out and all is well in my mowing world. Today, it caught, I backed out and it hit my shin really hard. Not bad enough to make me stop though. I'm stubborn and there was still a patch of grass that I HAD to get to. Did the same thing, thinking it'll never hit me twice.....wrong again....it did and instantly my leg turned purple, blue and was swollen. But it honestly didn't hurt too badly. I finished mowing and by the time I came in the swelling was gone and even the purple and blue marks were almost gone away. I laughed at myself but looked around hoping the neighbors weren't out watching! Tonight there's only a small mark on my leg.

If you go to your doctor, they may be obligated to file a police report for a dog bite (I don't know--it's the law in the state we live in). And you will probably be counseled to have prophylactic treatment for rabies. But, please don't let that stop you from seeking medical treatment if needed.

Haven't done anything really stupid today---highly unusual for me!
I pretty much used up my stupid alotment for a while when I argued w/ my boss a couple of weeks ago and called her a micro-managing, inflexible, manager to her face.
(I will say that we discussed it later and admitted we were both wrong and made our apologies and amends to each other...)
