| Anyone have Ovaries removed before Menopause??
Have stage 4 endo with large endometriomas on my ovaries(PCOS too).Ovaries are as big as my uterus..So i'm sure they are going to tell me I need a hysterctomy and ovaries out-I've been trying to hold off due to family issues stresses etc with caring for aged parents..SO how "crazed" were you from surgical menopause?? I do not look forward to a surgery which will leave me feeling worse for a very long time than I do now..I am not symptomatic at all from these ovarian things.. Facing surgical menopause scares me to death..I'm already too crazed and stressed out already and then add this to my life (

Check out Hysterectomy Support Discussions, Before Hysterectomy, After Hysterectomy, Recovery - HysterSisters There are message boards there and you can get all sorts of info and support. I had a hysterectomy 4 years ago but I still have my ovaries so I don't have any personal experience with what you are facing. Good luck!

Been there, done that. I had it all out many many years ago. That was before Premarin became such a question mark for many. So I didn't really notice any symptoms. When the Premarin scare came along, I had been on it for quite some time, and I quit taking it and still had few, if any symptoms. I have no idea what they give women today and even if they still use Premarin or something like it. If they do, you probably won't notice much of a change. I also know the surgical procedures have much improved since I had mine and the recoop time should be a lot less. I remember we took a cruise about two months after my surgery and the only problem I had was when we rented a jeep on one of the islands and tried to drive on a bumpy road. I was in much discomfort and we had to turn back. I also know that my moods are on a very even keel now and have been for a long time. So you might find the stress you are feeling is, at least in part, caused by those large ovaries. When they took mine out, they found a cyst the size of a liter soda bottle that they didn't know was there, and an odd, non-cancerous tumor that they also didn't know was there. Get it done! Don't let it get to an emergency state. |

I had a complete hystorectomy at age 44. I had already had 3 c-sections and they just used the same incision. sp? I went in for surgery on Monday at 6pm and went home on Wed. at noon. I could have stayed another day but I had to get home because my youngest was graduating from kindergarten the next day. I did a lot of walking in the hospital so they would let me go. On the way home we stopped at the park because both my 1st grade son and kindergarten daughter were there with their classes having a party. I didn't stay long but I got there. lol This surgery was easier then my c-sections and I was feeling good at the end of the second week. I had even went to two kids birthday parties the first week home. I wouldn't recommend that. After the surgery I have had a few hot flashes now and then but thats about it. They wanted me to take something but I decided against it. This was the most wonderful surgery I have ever had. I tell all my friends it should be an elected surgery after you are done having children. lol I had such heavy periods all my life and horrible cramps. Now I feel like a whole new person not having to worry about the mess anymore. |

Thanks for your stories..Another big concern is what else is the endo attached too?? Bowel, bladder etc and will things get nicked..Anything reproductive has always gone wrong for me..They even tried to put in an IUD once and after an hour, couldn't do it and I was going to need to have surgery to put one in..Said Forget it at this point..Since I really don't have periods due to PCOS, the bleeding and cramps have never been an issue or it would be a godsend for me too..But, I am pretty emotional already and stressed..Maybe it willbe better without the ovaries..Find out Friday..

| I can't speak to your endo problems but the stress of not doing anything is probably wearing on you more than you think. The surgery, for most, is today so much easier than what I had done, and I would hope that is true with your underlying condition as well. If not, then you might have a slightly longer recuperation period. I hope you and your doctors can find out what's best and that it all goes well. Keep us posted.
