American Idol Finale

Here is my humble opinion --- I'm stuck.

Do I vote for Little David because he has the best voice, but is not a very good performer. By that I mean, he seems so scared all the time and doesn't draw me in.

Or vote for Big David - who's voice is not as good as little David, but I really enjoy his performances.

And is Little David an "American Idol" or just a fantastic singer.

Decisions, decisions....

If I were a voter, I'd vote for David A. He was amazing as always. Plus, David w/ Guitar guy will still be getting a recording contract, so it doesn't really matter.

I voted for David C. because performance does count and I think he's better at that.

To me, the American Idol should be someone you will hear on Top 40 radio. David Cook...YES..you will hear him. David A....no. He's your mama's American Idol. He's really contemporary...great voice. A Russel Watkins or similar. He's not someone who is going to sell #1 songs to the majority *hot* market. More like Clay Aiken than a Kelly Clarkson. He's fab but I wont' buy his album. I WOULD buy David Cook's....right along side my Daughtry CD

I have not faithfully watched.

I just watched internet clips from tonight's show:
Just Jared

I am incredibly impressed by Archuletta's voice... wow. But, yes, Cooke's more the style that sells albums. Hmmm...........

They are both winners.

I think David Cook should be the idol as he is more main stream radio. However, I think David Archuletta will win becuase his voice is better. Regardless of who wins I think, in the end, Cook will be the real winner as I believe his success willl be greater.

I don't care if David A wins. For me, David Cook rules. Have you ever heard such one sided judging at any final? Randy said that David A was the best singer of season 7 and "the next American Idol is right here." Simon kept saying that David A. won after every single round. If David A. wins, he will be like Taylor Hicks. I can't imagine him filling arenas, except maybe with the tweens who like Miley Cyrus and the Jonas Bros.

David Cook has much more appeal..He can talk, sing, be creative and is his own guy!I enjoy watching him..Dislike David Archeleta..Yes a nice voice, but no appeal for me..Maybe if I was 13 again it would be different. If Daughtry made it and didn't win, I have no doubt Cook will go somewhere..He's got something different..

I don't think even AI knows what they want their idol to be...so both young men will bring something to the music scene.

A number of AI winners and also rans have been on Broadway...including Taylor Hicks upcoming this summer in GREASE.

I like Cook as a singer much better than Chris D. and look at the career Chris has made for himself.

Good luck to each of them. AI selected a much more talented group of 24 than they had in the past so these guys are good

If any of you are resourceful, you can find David Cook's previously released album "Analog Hearts" on some of the download sites. Amazon pulled it last week.

Do you think the judges were fair last night?
Full disclosure.. I don't care for David A. - I don't think he is all that great.. don't get it.

But for the finale, they REALLY leaned towards David A. Is that fair? I thought David C. was great, but with the comments seems he doesn't have a chance.

Does anyone think Dave C purposely chose songs mainstream America is not familiar with to not win? We think he does not want to win because then he is stuck with what they give him as a contract. But like Daughtrey (sp?) if he wins place two - he can do it his way.

We see Dave A on Broadway soon. Great voice but no concert seller outer.

Based on the finale and voice alone - David A has it. Based on overall performance and mass appeal - David C has it. I've been voting for David Cook all along because I think he has what it takes to sell records. I realized that David A has the tween vote, but when it comes to selling records his voice isn't really the style for tweens. I agree that he's going to be another Taylor Hicks.

In response to jnsp99 - I almost felt like David C was sabotoging himself last night. He really should have played the Lionel Richie song or the Michael Jackson song, like Simon said. But then he got emotional, so I wasn't sure if that was the case. Who knows?

Hoping that David Cook wins it. David A gets on my nerves! He acts like he's going to faint dead away after he sings. I can't understand that. Seems like someone would have coached him on how to act after singing.

Even if David A wins, David Cook will make it just like Daughtery did. Guess we'll see tonight!

Excellent Point! Maybe.

Win or lose, he will be a star!

I disagree. Two of the three songs he chose are very well known songs. One by U2 the other by Collective Soul.
The second song was from a pool of entries to the songwriting contest.

But I do agree, that no matter what the outcome of the show tonight, we'll hear more from David Cook.

I see David Cook's songs MUCH more mainstream and known. Both of the songs he sung (other than the songwriting one) were VERY popular mainstream songs. Songs and American Idol winner would sing and/or record. I often find that David A's songs are "old"...not mainstream at all. I can't imagine hearing any of his songs on top 40 radio....

In my never-to-be-humble opinion David Cook has a good voice. David Archuleta has a great voice with lots of maturing to do yet. I get a "poser" kind of vibe from DC for some reason--have from the beginning. Yes, DA is both socially immature and probably vocally immature to a degree also. I think that if he can get out a bit from under his overbearing Dad's clutches he will be able to go in another direction. I will say, though, that with all the "this is the best year ever" quotes from the powers that be at AI, this year did not really hold much interest for me. So will not be ecstatic or devastated no matter how it turns out

Congrats to David. I bet the runner up will have a record out by the end of summer.

Um, what was that BORING song George Michael was singing?! I nearly fell asleep. It was nice to see Carly again. I was hoping she'd win and was upset when she was voted off.

Yes, I was thinking what a downer song that was for such an up-to-that-point upbeat show!!!
