Was it pretty much what you expected? I'm glad you've got that 1st week under-your-belt. Hope you continue enjoying it...30 years is a long time

Congratulations! Did you talk in a big girl voice the first day to all the grown ups? Did you try to wipe anyone's chin or tell them to wear a sweater? LOL

Actually, I did have to wipe chins and put their sweaters on.....lol I am going to be working as an activity director for MR/DD people. So it was right up my alley. I love taking care of people so it is the perfect job for me. But dealing with the other employees yes, I had a hard time. Adult conversation is not something I have had in 12 years other than with my husband. So it's going to be rough but I will make it.

Now, let me ask you all.....HOW do you get your laundry done and cooking and cleaning all after an 8-9 hour work day? I think I need a wife!

congrats and enjoy the lime light, as for laundry you can start a load before bed and put it in the dryer in the morning and then do another load.

I throw the wash in as soon as I wake up, and while its washing, load/unload dishwasher (from anything not done the night before) generally a walk thru tidy and sweep the floors. Wipe off the counters (In between, I am showering, makeup and drying my hair). Usually by the time the wash is ready to hang out I am mostly done, and just have to keep up with the kids so they get dressed and eat (and brush teeth...)...Quick wipe up their faces, backpacks are by the front door and we are gone. When I come home I start dinner, unless I crocked something, help the kids with homework while I am cooking and everyone loads their own dishes (but, mysteriously there is always are dishes to load). Thats my basic routine...If I have a conference call, sometimes I mute the phone and clean the tub or some other job I usually save for the weekend. I also iron my clothes on the conference calls
edited to add,
I have found I get more done in less time than when I was not working, because I know I have to get it done by a certain time. My kids get off the bus a bit after 4 pm, and I get them off the bus usually, so they have me around more than most kids at their age that I have seen. In the summer, they go to fun camps, and I chaparone some of the trips.

That's what husbands are for! I usually throw the laundry in and out and then dump it on the couch - my DH folds it while he is watching TV in the evening. I try to do one hour of cleaning each day - that includes cleaning up the kitchen after dinner. My DH, DS, and I do a 15-minute clean-up every evening. Even that little bit helps. Then we catch up on the weekends (if we are home).
