i'd look through petfinder the shelters would have tested the dogs with children I found my girl through there, she ignores everyone in the house except hubby at treat time and me the rest of the time.

I would go with a poodle also. Especially with you having a daycare and so many kiddo's having allergies. Poodles don't shed either. Our little Poodle Doodle is 13 years old, recently went blind and has other health issues. I will miss her so much when she is gone. She is the most loving little girl. She loves to go to the groomers and get styled and her nails done. She comes home and just prances around like the little queen she is. (Yep, she loves her clothes too! hehe) |

We had a poodle when I was growing up and they are wonderful dogs. In fact, we had 2 and my grandparents had one and they're so low maintenance and great with kids. Check into adopting a small dog though. The fees are not a lot and they've normally been spayed or neutered already and had all of their shots. We adopted 2 sheltie/mix puppies last August and they're wonderful dogs but a little bigger than I had hoped for. My mom has 2 yorkies and they're great with kids also.

My parents growing up has bred pomeranians and we had 4 of our own. The teacup poms only weigh full grown 4 lbs! Ours ranged from 8lbs- 15lbs. At bedtime we'd say " let's go, time for bed" and they would run up the stairs and split into whoevers rooms they were sleeping in that night. They do kinda shed a little but they are so adorable. Good luck trying to find the perfect dog cuz there are tons of them!

I'd be extremely careful about getting any dog with a home daycare to consider, but it is way too easy for a very small dog to be seriously hurt because even a toddler can pick it up and accidentally hurt it |

I would suggest not getting a dachshund - I had one for 4 years before my first daughter was born, by the time she was 4 (by which time I had had my second daughter) we had to get rid of him because of snapping at the kids and growling so much. Overall, dachshunds are not known to be a kid friendly breed in most cases.

We have a toy poodle and he's wonderful with kids and everyone. I think a poodle would be great if he's around children, especially if some of the children are allergic to animals. Poodles don't shed. My son and husband are both allergic to dogs but never had a problem with our little poodle. Poodles are very smart, too, and can be housebroken quickly. I would suggest crate training, too.
