Been checking around for a new car..It seems that the focus back seats doesn't have the headrests like the front seats?? Is that true of all focuses?? I'm concerned over safety if you were in an accident and your head whipping around..Especially my kids..Just wondeing?? Thanks

I have a 2005 ford focus. I also have two kids. 11 and 8. I went from a van to this. It was a switch. My car does not have back headrests. But the backseat is up at an angle kind of. It is hard to explain.

When we got this, we made sure that it had the side airbags. We have been rear ended twice, not major. But the kids have been fine and not a lot of jarring around.

We have an 07 focus and it doesn't have the back headrests either. We love ours. Excellent gas mileage and very comfy ride Good price, too. And the new ones have Sync. That is SO cool. We are gonna get one in a few months.

That is a LOT of miles for a seven year old car. I have a 1994 Mercury Villager and it "only" has 140,000 miles on it....and it is 7 years older than your car. Do lots of joy riding, do ya?

I am a sales person/merchandiser, and have a sales territory. I bought the car new (when I was in insurance sales), car was paid off in a year or so from that job, so when I started working for this company in 2003, my car was paid off, so my mmileage money was all mine. Right now, I do about 1,200 miles a week. It varies as ,y territory changes.
I do get about 36 mpg highway, and 32 city (most of my driving has been highway). I have been tracking it since I got the car. It seats five comfortably (even with my 20 yr old in the back with the two little guys), has headrests all around, and has not had a serious problem, only gerneral maintenance, like tires and brakes (and the AC LOL). It is showing no signs of slowing down, and I plan to drive it as long as I can. My BIL had a Honda civic he hit 320,000 on, then sold the car for $1,200 still running. This car has paid for itself many times.
Most honda owners will tell you a similar story.
I wouldnt buy another Ford...I have owned two, and both were ready for the bone bag at 100,000 miles. They need to figure out what honda is doing to make thier cars last so long in order to compete IMO

The Consumer Reports April 2008 issue is dedicated to what you are wondering. Looks to me like you can't go wrong with a Toyota or Honda, although it says the Ford line is gaining and making a comeback. It talks about resale, safety and numerous other topics.
