I received this in a newsletter, thought you guys would enjoy it too.



What REALLY happens when a man volunteers to BBQ...

1. The woman buys the food.
2. The woman makes the salad, prepares the vegetables, and makes dessert.
3. The woman prepares the meat for cooking, places it on a tray along with the necessary cooking utensils and sauces, and takes it to the man who is lounging beside the grill, beer in hand.
4. THE MAN PLACES THE MEAT ON THE GRILL.
5. The woman goes inside to organize the plates and cutlery.
6. The woman comes out to tell the man that the meat is burning. He thanks her and asks if she will bring another beer while he deals with the situation.
7. THE MAN TAKES THE MEAT OFF THE GRILL AND HANDS IT TO THE WOMAN.
8. The woman prepares the plates, salad, bread, utensils, napkins, sauces, and brings them to the table.
9. After eating, the woman clears the table and does the dishes.
10. Everyone PRAISES the MAN and THANKS HIM for his cooking efforts.
11. The man asks the woman how she enjoyed 'her night off.' And, upon seeing her annoyed reaction, concludes that there's just no pleasing some women....

This sounds oh so familiar...

The same could apply to our past week's vacation spent in the mountains (or Christmas, for that matter). My husband spent about 15 minutes packing and I spent about 8 hours getting ready. He tells people that it's better than Christmas (for which he has to work a little bit harder) and I'm thinking that vacation and Christmas are NO FUN!!! Bah humbug.

I'm griping about him because it irritated me BUT, he's the one with the full time and good paying job. He washes dishes, does laundry, does yard work, etc. He deserves relaxing vacations and time off from work when he gets it. I feel that I can spoil him a little bit because I am spoiled for the majority of the time and he doesn't complain about me (I hope!!!). Love my DH.

I think I'll ask him to BBQ this weekend.

Toonces, you hit the nail on the head!!! I honestly don't think they have a clue what all we do. I've been told a million times, just come sit down , relax, ....... knowing that if I did, all we would have was charred meat eaten off of a knife.

I once had a boyfriend say "I don't understand what the big deal is about doing Thanksgiving. You just show up and eat turkey."

That is so true and funny. Same thing when a man cooks you breakfast--what a mess to clean up! But it makes them feel proud and manly so I just say thank you and clean up do the rest!
