Tornado check...

I know we have at least one person here at MC who lives in one of the areas hit really hard by the bad tornados here in Indiana. I haven't seen her lately, but maybe she posts at "The Other Castle" and someone knows how to check on her.

Reminisce71-Jennifer-her general area was hit pretty hard last night-anyone hear from her?

Anyone else here in the line of the storms last night? It's been rocking and rolling around here for a few days with the twisters this past Friday and then last night. I'm just outside of Indy, and the skies are a funky green color right now, but from the radar it looks like we should just be getting rain. It's still pretty bad in some areas around here now,

All I know is lightening struck something by our house early this morning. I haven't been outside yet to look. We thought our central air had been hit but it wasn't thank goodness.

I hope it doesn't end up being like this all summer.

Are you in Central Indiana as well? It's been crazy for a few days with this weather. Hope you don't have any damage!

Hopefully the worst is past you now. Looks like the yucky stuff is here now and maybe it can move on out and go away for a while.

Those poor people affected by all this can't catch a break to try and salvage anything with the rain like this!

I live in Brownsburg and we have been missed by the tornados but boy oh boy have we had some storms. The lake behind my house is higher than I have ever seen it. My sump pump alarm was going off this morning (at 5 am) It was working, but just could not keep up.

I'm in Iowa where 8 people recently died due to tornadoes in and around Parkersburg. We are under another watch until midnight tonight. I have my flashlights ready!

Maryland and Virginia are having problems now. A lot of severe weather and they said tornadoes on the ground. I still have power but I know many people are without. It started about 3:00 pm and is still going.

We just got hit with another storm this evening, my neighbors don't have power but luckily I am on a different transformer then they are but then again when I have no power they will have it. It is strange.

There were rumors of unconfirmed tornadoes touching down south of here. There are alot of trees down all over our city. My brother is on vacation and I went to check on his house. He is still in good shape but his neighbors had a tree limb on their car.

We had hail when that last one came through. I ran to put my truck out behind my neighbors house in his pole barn because there is too much junk in the garage. Our power flickered, but we didn't lose power.

Hope your neighbors get power back soon. Weren't there still some people without power yet from Friday's storm?

I am in KY and have lots of friends across the Ohio River so I watch all of the Indiana weather pretty closely. We have had some storms with lots of rain but so far that is all.
We have to go to Kansas in a couple of weeks so I hope the weather settles down!
All of you Indiana gals just hang in there, but please post if there is anything someone from KY can do to help if needed!

OMG that batch of storms that came through was reminiscent of when Isabel hit us. I just got electric back on around 3 am this morning !!! The first batch that came through within a minute of the wind blowing our electric went out that was about 2:30-2:45 pm Wednesday. It was hot hot hot here yesterday we sat outside on the deck because it was cooler out there than inside the house. We did try to go out and find a AM/FM TV combo that works on batteries with no luck they don't seem to make them anymore and the one we have is 20 yrs old and quit working on us. We bought a "boombox" type thing instead to listen to the radio instead of the little tiny transistor we were listening to. Let me tell this you don't realize how much you depend on things until they are gone. I couldn't use my laptop because my wi-fi connection wont work without electricity at the router and modem. I couldn't clean because it was too hot in the house to do anything. We are lucky we didn't lose all our food in the big freezer just in the small freezer and fridge. We cooked out on our gas grill. Had the electric not come back on today we were going to figure out a way to buy a generator to keep food in great shape.

They say that we had 3 tornadoes close to us here in VA, One in Dale City about 6-8 miles south from us. Another in an area of where I live called Huntington which is about 3 miles north of us and one in Annandale about 10-12 miles west of us and a falling tree killed the occupant of a vehicle. Maryland got slammed pretty good especially Chesapeake Beach. They keep calling this an unprecedented storm and they are right Dominion Power which serves most of VA had at the height of the storms 250,000 people out. Now one block from me in my complex they had electricity, 5 blocks over nothing, the Walmart was closed due to no electricity. Honestly you feel helpless you really do and when the first storm hit I thought my home was going to blow over !! They also kept the kids in school until the storm let up, so DS got home at 5 pm an hour late. Some of the schools were closed yesterday due to no power. Some places looked like a war-zone with all the trees down.

I am thankful we are Ok and that while it was bad it didnt do anymore damage than what they already reported.

I am a teacher and this storm hit a few minutes after we dismissed my school. Most kids who walk would have been home. I stayed at school until it was pretty much over. We have extended care at my school so I stayed wtih them. My dh was texting me with the weather reports. At one point, he said a funnel cloud was spotted about 2 miles from my school. So we took the kids in the basement of the school. Our secretary was at home ill and lived in that area. She called the school to make sure we were in the basement. We were ok but so many trees went down that the power was out all over the places. As a result, Montgomery County (where I live) and Prince George's County cancelled school on Thursday. Glad to hear that you were ok. I come from Wisconsin originally so I take every tornado warning seriously. My sister had her house hit and destroyed the day she came home from the hospital after cancer surgery.

Oh my gosh your poor sister!!! I hope she is doing ok.
I'm glad your school has a basement, you are lucky!! I'm in Iowa and I don't know any schools here with a basement. This is a very nasty weather year. Stay safe!

We were in tornado watches all day yesterday, but just had some bad storms we lost 2 trees. 78MPH winds and the gusts were higher.

Our town is facing flooding again from the Iowa River. They are starting to compare it to the floods of '93 and it didn't even start getting bad until the 4th of July that year! Plus storms are predicted for the next seven days.......

We have had more storms tonight, will it ever end????? I am hoping Monday-Wednesday is going to be nice so I can go visit one of my bestfriends I haven't seen her since last summer. Summer time is the only time we can get together.

I guess now it should be flood check!

Everyone ok?

We've got about 6 inches of water in the basement, but that is nothing compared to some areas. The hospital in Franklin is flooded!

They've even had to call out Scuba Teams to help rescue people! They showed video of a trailer park called Friendly Village in Greenwood, and all the trailers were flooded. One of DH's buddies mom lives in there and her trailer came off the footings or whatever and the back end is moving with the water.

I thought we had a lot of rain, but nothing like that. We live in Indy and I do have some water in the basement, but we really lucked out. My son was supposed to have a soccer tourney today, but it was cancelled, in Johnson County.

I bet most everything down in Johnson is cancelled today!

The water got about a foot high in the basement, but we put a second sump pump down and that got it down pretty quickly. There for a while it was coming in as fast as it was going out.
