Anyone watch Swingtown?

I had to check it out. Do we really need this crap on broadcast tv???? It was rather entertaining to see all those clothes I remember!!! lol The music was good. I did not find it very believable though that the couple would hop in the sack with that other couple so quickly. They just didn't seem the type to do something like that on the spur of the moment. It would have been more believable for me if they had set the stage and developed the couple more before they did the swapping. The first thing I thought about when they looked like they were swap were diseases!! lol

First of all, I haven't watched it, but it is on the TiVo. I will hit it this weekend.

And, I'm eager to see more "crap" on network TV....edgy programming "speaks" to me.

there used to be a member or 2 here that said they were into swapping. I cant remember their user names and is was a long time ago. I thought of them when I saw the previews of the show.

The music was the only part that was good. I'm not even sure I can stand to give it a second chance, which I usually do with new shows.

MY husband woud turn her down because we have a committed marriage and we try to be as moral as we can be. It's getting harder and harder to find decent TV shows. We gave up on movies long ago.

"MY husband woud turn her down because we have a committed marriage and we try to be as moral as we can be." The lady on the show thought the same thing...

I was on the puter and wasn't really paying attention to the tv...good grief!! It got my attention at least. I won't be watching for sure. The music was good though, that's what got my attention in the first place. I suppose there is enough of a market for it, for some reason this is what ppl want to see. to each his own....

Its entertainment.. thats all it is. It is not encouraging people to go out and live the lifestyle.. I dont think there is a "market" for it but I do think that it is meant to be entertainment.. thats it...

I too thought it would be more beleivable if they had developed the story line before swapping. I'll watch it until there is something better on.

I thought the couple appeared totally happy and committed to each other in the opening segments. Seemed like the all American family. Crying when she left her old neighborhood, good friends with a very straight lady, etc.. Next thing you know she's taking drugs and swapping. There needed to be a better link for a quality tv show. Maybe they just wanted to get to the sex part to hook viewers! They would have made me want to watch it again if they would have developed the characters better before they did the swapping thing. I may tune in again just to hear the music and see the old clothes!!! lol

"Swinger" communities are still alive and well.

I do not think the drugs play as big a role as they did in the 70s, but people still do Swing and Swap.

I work in a male dominated field and have three brothers... all of the men talking today love and respect their wives greatly however if given the chance and the wife was willing, they all said they would have done it...

And like I said before.. it was entertainment... Think about it.. BLOW with Johnny Depp is a terrific movie but it doesnt make me want to go out and deal or do coke. Entertainment...

Oh...I think you would be amazed at the market that is out there for "swingers". I've come across a few normal people...who are swingers. And drugs are not involved.

Oh good grief! It's not "bait". It's legitimate question.
I didn't even look at who the poster was until now, you flatter yourself it you think that I purposely pick you out of the crowd to respond to.

I would have to assume that you feel swinging or swapping is immoral? That it doesn't honor a committed relationship? Seriously, I just want to know why you think it's "sad".

Everyone on here knows you bait people. Whether you did or didn't this time really doesn't matter. And you answered the question anyway. It's actually a violation of the 10 Commandments no matter how someone rationalizes it. And no, I'm not going to discuss religion or morality with you. Afterall, you felt free to call me the "c" word.

*sigh* Did I ask you to discuss religion or morality? I just asked why....
I just wondered if you had some other reason than the morality/religion one.

And by the way....please feel free to read the election board. I publically apologized to you for using that term directed at you. I was wrong to use it. Whether you accept that apology is up to you, but it is sincere.

And what did you think of the couple that just moved in? Did you find them jumping aboard the whole swing train was too quickly done?

I accidently came upon it, and was sucked in! I'm a disco fan anyway, love the music, and all the props that I remembered were very funny! I'm sure next Thursday nite I'll be sitting there watching it. And NO, I'm not into that! But I do know several people that are, and amazingly, besides that, they seem to have normal lives! No way, no how would it ever be for me though. I'm afraid I'm hooked though!

I watched it out of morbid curiosty....while it was amusing I probably won't be watching again. But don't quote me on that it all depends on what else is on or if I am bored.

I did find it unrealistic that they "swung" on the first nite. However, I did get a feeling that Susan and her best friends husband, Roger, had something going. Just my observation.

I thought the same thing. I'm kind of sucked in by this show so far. We'll see what next week brings. I'm loving the touches to detail on this show, like the real pull tab on the TAB soda, the clothing and the cars.

Me too! I noticed the Tab soda too and the authentic style clothing. Yech! I also thought she and her neighbors husband either had something going or have crushes on each other. Could make for a very intresting series if they develop the characters more.

They're made up. This is a brand new series on CBS and the first episode just aired this week. Go further up in the thread an there's a link to view the full first episode online. I really enjoyed it.

There's part of me that's a bit amused that the terrible, immoral things the show's referring to were done by my parent's generation, not mine.

Then again, I can't quite work up outrage over people who are old enough to choose, well, deciding what they want to do. I think swinging could be terribly awkward, but I don't see it as wrong.

I think it's boring now, lol. I wish it were on HBO so it could be more in your face. THEN I'd like it more.

I have only seen two of the shows, first and second. There are three?

How did I miss the third on the website?

Damn, I LOVE this show!!!! It really does hit home fo rme, and the feelings that both Susan and the gal across the street feel, I soooo can relate. This show is more true to life than I thought it would be.

Oh, and can someone give me the permission to punch the little girls mom in the face already? ARGH!

(okay, sorry, I really would never do that, and my ranting is *off* now. LOL)

On the other hand, my girlfriend from Germany is staying here with us for a short while (the one who's dh left her and she is trying to finish her ppw for social security), and she IS a swinger and Bi. She HATES the show (Yes, I made her watch it) and she said it is BORING. LOL I could not even DRAG her back into the computer area to make her finish watching it. lol So I just went in there afterwards and told her all about what happened. LOL She was sooo not amused. LOL

I guess I am just easily amused and may need to have more fun in life, I guess! LOL
