Our little mister Pattycakes (ok, please don't tell anyone that I call my 6'4" boy that) is graduating next Sat. I really just can't stand the though of it. While I feel so proud of his amazing accomplishments, I am just so sad that in the next few months he will be living elsewhere and attending college, and not needing mama every day. I would really someone severe my arm then have to send him off to college.

I have 5 more years before I have one that graduates. What are the kids who graduated going to do over the summer?

My twins graduated last Saturday. Their class was over 400. I'm proud to say both were in the top 10%. Now I just have to figure out how to come up with the money for the two Mac laptops they wanted for graduation. Thank goodness there were no tragedies in their senior class this year. As far as the summer, DS already has a job at Jamba Juice and DD will be looking next week!

My son also graduated this year. It was definately a trying senior year. I have posted here about him quite a bit. They had 400+ in their class and had 2 podiums. BEST MOM MOMENT EVER!!!! My son is autistic and almost didn't graduate. I had to help him and push him to pass senior English. When the graduation ceremony was over (which included a LASER LIGHT SHOW!!!) we went down to the field to find him. I called him on his cell phone twice. While I was on the phone with him the second time, my dad said, "there he is". I turned around and my son ran at me and almost knocked me down to hug me. He hugged me for the longest time and then said in my ear "Thank you". I teared up completely. This was very special as he is not very affectionate and is rarely appreciative. I couldn't be prouder. He has a few weeks off now before he meets with Vocational Rehab. He graduated May 21st AT LAST!!!!!!!!!!!

Congratulations to your twins! My oldest son graduates 5/09...he's a rising senior. I imagine it must be very emotional...sad that they have grown up and will be off on their own soon, but happy that they made it through (and so did you!) and that they are onto the next chapter in their lives. Sigh. Anyway, good luck to them in their future endeavors. ~Lisa |

My oldest graduated on May 18th. It's been a long time since I've been to a graduation and this one included a Baccalaureate with a full Catholic Mass. The handing of the diplomas by a Catholic biship also included a statement of what each and every of the nearly 300 boys would be doing post-graduation. That part kept it kind of interesting, but I thought it might have been a little embarassing for some of the kids and a very proud moment for the few that were going to MIT, Yale, Princeton, etc. We were supposed to hold our applause, which folks for the most part did....with the exception of all the boys who were going to the military academies. THose boys got a hearty applause, which was nice to see/hear. Smiles&Hugs, cj/

Add my name to the list of proud parents - my DS graduated last Saturday. He is my 6'1" baby, but I guess not so much now He had a class of 432 and the graduation was over in less than 90 minutes! Fastest graduation I ever saw. I think part of it was because the convocation center where the graduation was held was over-flowing. The Fire Marshall actually made people that were standing in the back leave. (The center held 4080) Congrats, to OP and other Proud Moms and Dads out there! |

My DD did the same thing. I was in the parking lot, calling her on the cell, trying to find her in all that craziness, when she sees me, starts running toward me about the time I saw her and jumped into my arms.....ooooohhhhhh my back. I just looked at my son (6'2) and said don't even think about it..lol. They both Thank me and their grandparents for everything we had done for them, another tear jerker...lol. My babies don't show emotion too well. Both of my children will be working for the park system in VA. They will be going tomorrow with all their graduation money and opening a bank account. They are excited. I'm just hoping they understand that they can't mess it up. My other two DDs will probably be driving me crazy this summer. My 14 yr dd has a job watching our neighbor's dogs (she's had it since she was 12) so that will help her this summer but my 5 yr dd (going into K this year) will be bored in 2 more days...lol. Lots of time at the pool this summer...lol

| Add me to the proud parent list! My oldest graduated about two weeks ago. I could not believe we were there, in the stands. I just knew someone would tap me on the shoulders and say "ummm, there's been a mistake". LOL, yeah, silly I know. It's just that we had a VERY tough year. The last 4-5 months were hairy. But we pulled through. I don't think our son truly realized how important it was, until that night. He looked so happy and proud. Going out to the field to hug him was surreal. It was great. I thought my heart would burst Congratulations to everyone. And crzy4cpns, I'm so happy for you and your son. I remembered your posts and am glad to see he ended up graduating. High five.
