My sister lives there and she said it is just ridiculously hot. We just visited Memorial Day week and temps were comfortable. Looks like we were there just in time!

I'm in Hampton Roads also - I was just thinking this morning as I felt the humid heat already outside that I'm going to hate to see our bill! I really hope we get a break before summer really hits!
Thats what we get for having such a pretty spring for a change!

I'm in Richmond and it was 82 at 5:00 a.m. Supposed to go to 103 with a heat index of 110.

You have to wonder how people lived before AC.

I hope we don't hear about a rash of people dying from the heat. I hope those people take advantage of the many shelters available to them.

It's just after 7;45am here (Delaware) and the temps are already 85 degrees. Both DS and myself broke a sweat standing outside waiting for the school bus. The humidity is so high, making being outside miserable, has been all weekend. I hear the heat is suppose to break on Wednesday, thank goodness.

I live very close to Va Beach and I'm with ya on the AC running overtime. I'm scared to death, its gonna quit. And I don't want to see my electric bill. I was on the net last night looking for room darkening shades to hang. The sun beats down on the backside of our doublewide and it makes the entire house hot. Looking into getting a window unit for my DDs room b/c for some reason air doesn't get in there. Hot in the summer and cold in the winter. I hope it lets up soon.

It is hot in Maryland too. Sunday we had 102 degrees in the shade. I work at a private school without air conditioning. We only have 1/2 days so it is not so bad.

Isn't there a cold front coming behind the heat? I think that I saw that somewhere. Hang tight and stay cool. This too shall pass.

A couple of weeks ago (mid-May) we hit some all time high temps here in AZ and then the next week, we had all time low temps... Loved digging out the jackets!

I feel for of you and the heat. Of course, here I am sitting at my computer in a sweatshirt and under a blanket with my air conditioner off today. I do have to put up with rain today, but what a tradeoff.

I'm on my way up there with you. I rather be cold any day of the week than hot. Cold I can get warm, when its hot, I can't get cooled off. LOL. It's 8:15 pm now and finally the house has cooled off pretty good, but it was hot today.

Forecast says we should be getting snow Wednesday....
Higher elevations could get up to 2 feet! Parts of the state are under a winter storm warning Tuesday into Wednesday.
We sit in a valley, so we'll probably only get a dusting.

Our AC has been running all day here, too (Monday) and then yesterday it ran all day. It's so hot here. I've been running fans to help circulate the air and closed all the blinds. I sure will hate to see the electric bill.

I am in southern Virginia and it got up to 101 degrees today! It is almost 8:45PM and it is still 81 degrees!! I have tried to cut my air up to cut back on the bill but it still is running ALL the time! Quite honestly, I have been home since 3:00 and it has been on non-stop! My utility bill is gonna be sky high this month!

Horrible here in the Northeast today as well but I will tell you I'd rather the electric bill than what is coming this winter for oil!

You know, my DH and I were talking about that yesterday! When we bought this house eight years ago, we were skeptical because it had electric heat (we wanted gas--much warmer and at the time more economical). Now we are so thankful for having the electric heat. Last year alone (when gas/oil prices were high yet much lower than this year will be), our electric heat was much (MUCH) cheaper than our friends and family with gas or oil heat. You are so right, oraf7--heating costs will be outrageous by winter time!

It feels much better outside today after the rain went through. I just hope it still feels better two hours from now!

90 doesn't sound so cool until you compare it to four days of 100 degree temps!
