Sump Pump Water

Ok, being here in Iowa, we are having a TON of flooding (not in my area thank goodness) but my sump pump literally is going off every 15 minutes or so.

My pump releases on the surface of my yard (it is not buried). Can this water be used to water plants, etc?

Not that my ground plants need it but my containers could after a couple days.

I tried to call our extension office but no one answered.

Any thoughts?
Thanks!
Amy

It is just ground water isn't it? I would assume, so long as it is not raw sewage it should be fine.

No, it's not raw sewage and it looks clear. I'm just not sure how the whole system works and what actually ends up in there! LOL

Maybe I should call a plumber??

If you have a dehumidifier that water is ok for watering plants.

Yup, I do that already granny...I'm turning into my mother! LOL

I actually got ahold of the extension guy yesterday and he said as long as I use it on outdoor plants and not indoors I am safe. He said sometimes there are minerals in there and the rainwater will wash it away outside but not inside.

You should be safe...it is just the same water that is already in the ground.,

BTW==in Aruba, where they have to de-salinate sea water for drinking, they use the "blue" water---sinks , tubs ,and washing machines to water the gardens. They must run it through a filter so that the soap is removed to a degree...but they call it blue water.
