Shouldn't you be working?

OK, fess up. How many of you are *working* right now? Who cheats on their time at work? What would happen if you got caught wasting time on the internet?

Me? I'm not working now, but I do cheat on my time when I'm there.

Hey...I didn't mean to imply that you SAHM aren't working. I was a SAHM for years, and worked very, very hard! Anyway, you all deserve a break in the daily routine....not to mention a little adult conversation.

I do think there are several people out there "at work" that spend a considerable amount of time not working. I think they're avoiding conversation here.

We're on summer vacation. Working for the school district has it's perks (summers off) I never log on at work. I am way to busy.

However, during summer vacations I am on frequently. Between doing chores around the house that is. Today I shampooed the stairs and washed walls, cleaned the refrigerator and thinned out my walk-in closet and drawers. Oh and I mopped and vacuumed.

I work from home and out in the field so when I'm home I am online alot as the dining room/office is right next to living room with the tv.

When I used to work at company we could use the internet as much as we wanted to as long as it did not interfere with our stats. And as long as we did not gamble or view "innapropriate" material--basically anything that anyone could accidentally see on your screen that might offend someone-vague for sure!

IMO if a person is doing their job to standards and is neither costing the company money nor doing some other businees thing where they are making other money when the company is paying them and not doing anything stupid like online gambling or porn they should be allowed to do it.
It boosts morale and once it interferes with a specific person's performance that person should be corrected. Some of us have no problem providing excellent service at high production rate and doing something else. Why should we be punished if we can do it and do it all right?

I think some bosses are control freaks, some are afraid of lawsuits and embarrassment and some just want to crack the whip because they don't like other people to be happy.

I have often wondered the same thing. I work part time a few evenings a week so I am homein the daytime. That is when I am on the internet. I don't have access at my job, which is a good thing, as I find it addicting at times!

I don't . I have a job and I have a life that come before the internet.

The internet and cell phones are not entitlements when being paid to work. I think a study would be interesting of how much productivity is being lost due to people having access to these two items.

It is especially unforgiveable for anyone working in a government position and I know the military forbids it. I would think other facets of the government would as well, however I don't know for a fact.

My whole job involves being online, which would be a lot more interesting if it wasn't all fixing broken websites. I'm not actually sure I can get to this site from there, so anything I do that's not work is talking to friends in other departments.
