My friend is a landlord with a hud tenet and the tenent would like to get sattelite t v . If you were the landlord what would you say? She is afraid of roof damage. Also would this have any bearing on homeowners insurance? Please give your expert opinions. tia

We have a satellite and there is no roof damage or effect on homeowners insurance. I will say that they have to drill a hole in the wall to run the sat. cable into the house. I would suggest that your friend be there when the dish is installed if she decided to OK it (this way she can tell the installer where to drill the hole).

I have driven by apt houses that have a line of dishes across the front of the house. If I were landlord, I wouldnt like it. Actually, putting in the lease "cable only, no rooftop dishes" is a good idea to put in for the landlord. My BFF has several rental properties, when I speak to her later, I will ask her what she does (I dont think she allows them)
We had one, dumped the service and the dish is still up there, I guess DH left it there " in case we get it again"...I think he does not wish to climb a 40 ft ladder and take it down ...I am in a permanent homeowner situation and I dont like the look of the dish (ine is behind the peak of the roof ) so I think I would like it less on a rental property I owned.
My BFF has so many troubles with tenants doing little things that cost her a fortune to fix when the time comes, that I am really turned off of having rental properties...She most recently had someone break into a vacant apt and squat there for a few days, making a little homeless nest for himself (her houses are all in good neiighborhoods, neighbors reported to the police ), and another tenant's adult son burned the kitchen down frying chicken wings. PITA
