Congratulations to both of you and he is a lucky man to have your support while he is on the road to recovery. I truly believe it takes team effort to overcome such a demon as alcoholism. Have a wonderful and relaxing day. We will be celebrating our 25th next month. I feel blessed to have a great man. |

Congratulations Marilou! You have every reason to be proud of your hubby...He is sober and it's only going to get better as long as he stays on the right path...My father was told the same exact thing as your DH...he would have one year to live if he kept drinking...This was back in February 1989...My Dad hasn't had a drink since and he's doing great...I thought that he would have health problems because of all the abuse he put his body through, but no, nothing. He's going to be 70 in August and no health problems at all. He doesn't go to AA and I don't know how he does it without a support system, but that's his business. The bottom line is he's not drinking anymore. As a recovering alcoholic myself, I'm so happy that you're going to Al-Anon...That way you can understand more what he's going through and get the tools to cope if you need them...You guys sound like you are going to stay very happy...Congratulations and if you ever need to talk, feel free to PM me. I've been on both sides (Al-Anon with my Dad and AA myself). ~Lisa
