| Anyone have an old coal wood stove they use in kitchen??
I have an antique cast iron cream colored stove in my basement, like my grandma had. I am thinking of changing some stuff in my kitchen, and bringing it up to be used in the winter for both heat and cooking. The area I plan to put it in I can easily either tap into the chimney that is there , or run a chimney pipe next to it. Does anyone have one or use one?? The stove I have is beautiful, and just needs new firebrick, which we have done before. I wonder if anyone else has one, and do you like it??

My Uncle just purchased a new coal stove. This will be his first winter using it. It should save him a lot of money if we have another cold Maine winter. It will be their primary source of heat. Everyone in our area is really worried about how they are going to heat their home this winter. Right now, heating oil is running about $5 a gallon and they are predicting it to be over $6 a gallon by fall. We spent almost $3,000 last year on oil in our small home, this year it could be double that amount. We bought a new pellet stove last weekend. We are hoping that will ease the heating problem. The store we purchased the Pellet stove from sold 50 of them in two days, Everyone is trying to come up with alternatives to heating oil. I feel so bad for the elderly. I cannot imagine how they will possibly be able to afford to heat some of the big old farm houses in our area.
