I thought this might be a fun thread. I was introduced to him by his mother who was a co-worker at the time. We have been divorced for forty years! Once was enought for me I was a fast learner.

I worked at a college where my DH attended. It was the grand opening of the student center and I went with friends. Our "eyes met across a crowded room" and it was love at first sight. He followed me around for the next 2 hours while we both explored the center until finally I said "Have you been following me? Are you normal?" He answered, "Yes, but you have such beautiful eyes." We talked that night, saw each other the next day and were engaged at the end of the week and married within a year and a half. We have been married for 33 years. (Was it always wonderful....by no means!!! but I am glad we stuck it out.)

What a fun thread!

We met at work. In my actual interview, the woman conducting the interview said "...and we've just hired a very attractive man..." I was so taken aback by that comment - it seemed quite unprofessional/inappropriate.

I met the man they were talking about, and realized that I agreed with them - he was so attractive! We began dating, and people didn't find out until a co-worker's wedding. I brought him as my date.

He proposed to me on the observation deck at the top of the (now gone) twin towers of the World Trade Center. We married almost 11 years ago, and I never looked back!

My DH was out with his best friend and his best friend's girlfriend (who was my best friend at the time). Well they decided to pick me up so DH was not a 3rd wheel. We hit it off dated for a year broke up and went our seperate ways to college and 5 years later met back up (felt like no time had passed ) and here it is almost 10 years of marrige and still going strong.

DH and I worked together at a restaurant almost 20 years ago. He kept hitting on me and I kept putting him off. We started hanging out together as friends, then one thing led to another. We lived together for about 6 months, then got married kind of on the spur-of-the-moment. (Just about 1-yr after we met.) Although we almost ended it 2-yrs ago, we've been married for 18 1/2 years now. We had stopped appreciating each other and started taking each other for granted. But, I can honestly say, throughout our marriage we've never been happier together than we are today. It's finally what it should've been from the beginning, and we've finally learned to stop taking each other for granted. Our "near divorce" has made me often wondered what tribulations couples endure to make it to their 50th Wedding Anniversary.

Then he asked if I wanted to makeout.I said "YEAH!!!, so we went to a motel ,stayed for a week or so, going out to eat ,shopping, movies, and making out in between ,then we spent the last of our money on engagement rings for each other and have been together ever since. That was about 5 years ago.

My story is boring... it was a set up! His family knew my family growing up and after college, his mom *suggested* that I might take guitar lessons from him after he had moved back to town. Guitar lessons lasted 2 weeks, marriage has been going strong for 18 years (with one memorable bumpy time a few years back).

Our anniversary is on June 23!

I met my dh while we both were in another relationship. It just so happens that our boyfriend/girlfriend were brother and sister. We met at their parents house. Several months later we both ended our relationships with the brother and sister and started dating....that was 28 years ago. I am glad that although we were both very young and naive, we did wait until we were out of that relationship before we started dating...

I was cocktail waitressing. He and a bunch of his Navy friends came into the bar. I had their tab. He didn't make much of an impression on me. He sent a friend over to ask for my phone number. For some reason I actually gave him the correct number. It was his 24th birthday. We got married 8 months later and this August marks 15 years of marriage.

My GF, sister and I were stopped at the light in town, which was right next door to this little gas station. The guys there were yelling for us to come over, so of course, we did! (I was just 16, having got my license like 4 months prior) We hung out there for quite awhile and the guy (my now DH) that owned the station/minimart asked me out for that night. We really hit it off and have been together for 21 years and married 18 in August!

We met thru Jerry the Embezzler. Jerry set up my computer (let's see, that was about 15 years ago...) to be able to do accounts payable and payroll. He told me he had a friend that would be perfect for me. I wasn't ready to meet anyone at the time, was sort of seeing someone but it wasn't anything serious. That was in November, but shortly after the first of the year I called Jerry and told him to tell his friend to call me. He called on a Wednesday and we went out on Friday....been together ever since. 14+ years together and this Saturday we'll celebrate our 11th wedding anniversary.

We met the first time when I was 8, and he was 9. He threw fireworks at me at a party our grandparents went to.

Again when we were in high school. His best friend was my best friends brother. We were always together, and eventually started dating. We have been together since

I was living in Montreal when I answered an ad on Telepersonals. My now husband of 13 years, was working in Mtl for 6 months. I heard his voice and was interested. I left him a message, he called and we met that day. He left Mtl in 2 months and we kept long distance - were married 11 months after we met. Have been in Texas for 13 years now. Jsut when you think it isn't going to happen it does.

We met on a blind date. I was 17 and he was 22. I wasn't immediately smitten, he intimidated me and I thought he was too old for me. I had decided I wouldn't see him again before the night was even over. But he sent me 18 roses on my 18th birthday a couple days after our first date. He asked me out again and I said yes because I felt obligated since he sent me roses. That date did it for us. We've been together ever since. I relaize now that most people find him intimidating as well. I enjoy watching people squirm around him. In reality, it's just his facial expressions, he's a big teddy bear!

Met DH while I was on a blind date with somebody else 24 years ago. We needed a 4th person to play Trivial Pursuit. Every time I'd miss a question, DH would wink at me and say, "That's common knowledge!" We both have the words 'Common Knowledge' engraved on the inside of our wedding bands.

DH never seems to age. How blessed I am!

We were both volunteers at the local fire department and had known each other for a few years. We got together when we both broke up with the people we were seeing at the time. Our first date was 14 years ago yesterday and I have tormented the man ever since.

I met my SO when I was 15.... I went cruising town with some girlfriends and we went to a local park here. One of them dared me to stand in front of this slow moving vehicle and of course I did. I also had shorts on that I pulled up one leg higher and stood there like a dork and the car pulled in and parked. Needless to say, we have been toether ever since and now have 2 beautiful children and just celebrated our 14th anniversary. We've been together 17 years in September. We got married 3 days after I gradutated high school. Even with a child and being one month pregnant.

I was selling insurance and my boss said a guy is coming in for an application and you are doing it. I was scared, 19, and single. He walked in and I knew that I wanted to date him. I screwed up his insurance and I found a way to fix it. When he came in I passed him a note (so my boss couldn't hear/see) and asked if he had a girlfriend. He said "no" and I asked him if he wanted to go out to dinner and discuss the mistakes I made. He said yes and we'll be married 14 years in September.

As sophmores in high school. We were in the same English class and he sat behind me. We first talked when he asked me to move my head so he could see the other answers to a test we were taking. LOL We dated for 7 months and then got back together the first day of our Senior year. Dated again for 4 months until I admitted to cheating He wouldn't look at me or speak to me for the rest of the school year. The day of graduation he called me. I was dating someone else but we agreed to move past and be friends. He followed me around the all night grad party and a week later we were back together. We married the following July. Will be 15 years the 17th of July

I met DH when I was dating his cousin. He kept leaving stuff in my car to see me and I didn't take the hint. One night I showed up to go out with the cousin and the cousin basically stiffed me on our skating date and DH said give me 5 minutes to shower and get ready and we can go out. I was like yeah whatever because I was 17 out of school, working 2 jobs and he was 20. Well I stuck around timed him and 3 days later he proposed while driving down the beltway under the Van Dorn Street Bridge and a month later we were married this August 11th it will be 25 yrs. The cousin he wasn't too pleased with me dumping him the next day but hey he in a way showed his colors the night before. There were rocky times with his cousin and Aunt after the dumping but they got better. We're all family and friends now and he has his family now and he tells us he is amazed at our marriage and how well we stick together to parent and how he wishes he and his wife could be like us when it comes to raising and disciplining kids and he admires us. So thats the shorthand version of how I met DH.

I went to my best friends house to pick her up & go out, I was in 11th grade, Her older brother ( He was 21 years old, I was just 17 ) was there & he scared the crap outta me, all unshaven & rough looking. The next day he came into Dairy Queen where I worked at the time, he was all shaven & hair cut..he was HOT....I didn't even know who he was untill he told me. We went to prom together & will be married now 18 years in November.

DH & I met in college at a bus stop! We had mutual friends and one of my friends was crazy about him. However, he didn't want to go out with her her. After a couple fruitless weeks of trying to set them up and him not being interested in her and obviously interested in me, she told me to go for it. I did. She was mad at me for about a month, but eventually got over it. We dated for almost 4 years. We'll be married 19 years in October.

We met 14 years ago on Prodigy (back when you had to pay by the hour...the bills were tremendous). I was online supposedly planning my wedding to my then-fiance, but I met dh the first night in a chat room and the rest is history.

Back then people looked at me like I had a third eye when I said I met someone online...it was just unheard of. Now it's commonplace...I think it's a great way to meet!

Blind date , in a manner of speaking.
Good friends knew I liked Japanese cuisine and knew this guy who'd just taken an Asian cooking class that they thought would be great for me. They'd tried to set me up with him twice earlier, but for various reasons, we never connected.
Mind you, they'd tried to set me up several times previously with other men and it was *always* with less than pleasant results.
I agreed to meet this guy they'd arranged to be the chef at my 21st b'day dinner in January of 1977. If I didn't like him, we had an excuse all ready to go to get rid of him and then my husband/wife team of friends and I would go out clubbing.
But the earth moved when we both set eyes on each other. The wife later told me the first words outta dh's mouth after first setting sight on me was, "where did she come from?!". My first words to the husband after seeing dh for the first time were, " I'm in luuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuv!".
After he cooked an amazing dinner with Shrimp Tempura as the main course, he picked up his guitar and played me love songs he made up there on the spot. I never, ever, in a gazillion years ever imagined I'd ever be a lead character in such an exciting and unusually strong romance story. But there it was, right from the git go.

One day short of 2 months later we were married in a hippie type wedding (even though dh was a military officer };-) in his CO's back yard with horses and a dozen Irish Setter puppies and our loved ones.
That was more than 31 years and 6 kids ago.
I don't recommend our kids do it the way *we* did it ;-)
I have no idea why it turned out so well for us, cuz we did it all bass ackwards. All I can guess it's that it's God's grace.

We met using a dating service. I signed up on a dare from a friend (was scared of all of the bad seeds I might meet) and he was signed up because he had just moved into town and knew no one. We met and six months later, got married. We have been married 13 years now with two kids.

I met DH through a local TAG chat board (before internet message boards). We did have mutual friends, so it wasn't like meeting a complete stranger. He came to my house with a mutual friend of ours. By the time the evening was over, I knew there was something more between us. We were finishing each others sentances and seemed to know what each other was thinking. It was really kind of scary as I had never connected with anyone like that before.
