I was wondering why...

How come certain free stuff they won't mail to a P.O. Box?? I don't understand! I don't have a physical address that I get mail at. Here's an example....I sent away for a coupon for a free box of cereal. I couldn't use a P.O. Box so I had to use my fathers address. Now either way..it's going through the post office. The only difference is that he lives in a development. Can someone help me out here?

It's because they want to make sure you are not getting more than one. You could have a PO Box and have the freebie sent there as well as your home address. It also makes verifying your identity a bit more difficult.

That is just my belief; nobody ever told me. I always put my street address in first then the PO Box. If it is a site that rejects your submission when you enter a PO Box just put in your residence address. You might have to put a change of address in with the post office.
Or just put in Box without the PO Box that might work.

hmm..thanx for your helpful hints! I'll try that next time. I can't do a change of address. No one in my development gets mail to their physical.

I lost out on a $40 rebate because I didn't read all the fine print. I live in a small town and do not have a mailbox at home...just a PO Box. It is frustrating to have them sent to someone else - especially if they also do refunding and rebates - I dont know if they have already done it or not.

I remember reading years ago that some people would rent several po boxes just so that could get duplicate rebates. I assumed that was why PO Boxes were not allowed.

What a PIA! lol

that's actually sick if you'd rent several PO boxes just to get free stuff.

We have a PO Box and it is such a hassle when ordering anything. We do have a physical address, but anything involving the Post Office gets delivered to our PO Box. The only thing we can have delivered to our physical address has to ship either Fed Ex or UPS. Some companies cannot tell you if and item with ship USPS or UPS. So, it is difficult to know which address to put down. If you put both addresses, they often cannot/will not deliver the item. I have had items returned because of this problem. It drives me crazy! We live in a small town and must pay a yearly fee for our Post Office box.
