My daughter could use your prayers

I know I don't post much but my 10 yr old could use a few prayers. We took her to the ER on Wed. She has always been healthy. She said she could not see that anything was black like when she sleeps. She did not know who anyone was. She knew voices but could not talk. All she wanted to do was sleep. She could barley walk without assistance. When we got to the ER she said where are we whay are we here. They checked us in and they did her vitals and had us wait in the waiting room. Only about 10 minutes. She wass crying the whole time saying she did not know where she was and why she was here. They got us in a room and the Dr came in and started to check her over and it seemed like she was coming back. She said she only remembers getting on the bed in the room at the ER. so she basically lost 2 hours that she don't remember anything. Now at the ER he did nothing but check her eyes and reflexes and make her walk. No blood tests or anything. She went and seen her Dr the next day and he did a blood and urine test we have to wait for the results. She also has an appt with the neuroligist on July 31. But now we just wait and wonder. Thanks to all who pray for her and read this.

UPDATE: Well we got her blood work back and it all came back normal. That is good so now we wait. Thanks again everyone.

That had to be scary! I'm glad she is better now. My prayers are with her. Hopefully you can get some answers when the tests come back.

I think the ER dropped the ball, and having to wait a month to see a neurologist is crazy.

That's very scary. Just remember to be very pro active about her situation. ER's have been known to drop the ball. Maybe a referrall from her regular doc could get you in quicker at the neurologist?? Try everything.

I would call the neurologist and beg for a sooner appointment. If he can't fit you in, call another Dr. who will, or pester your Dr. to make something happen. That must have been pretty scary for you guys. Please don't wait a whole month for an appt.

Praying for your family - esp for DD!

Sounds like good advice above from ballmom and linnybop. You won't regret being an assertive advocate at a time like this.

Please keep us posted!

Thank you everyone. Her Dr is the one who referred us but that was the soonest appt available. We are on a waiting list and I will keep called daily to try to get in earlier. Right now she is like nothing ever happened but does not remember any of it. Again, thank you everyone. I will keep you posted.

If your dd's ped (or primary dr) has their office call the neurology dr, you may get in sooner. We were told we'd have to wait several months to get into the only ped. dermatologist in the state. My ped's office called them and told them how awful my kid was (he looked like a burn victim from his eczema, wasn't responding to anything) and we got fitted in the next week.

Yes, do try to get in sooner! Maybe they have a physician's assistant? Usually you can get in quicker with them.
Y'all are in my prayers!

Have her checked for seizures when you get to the neurologist. Most people think of seizures as falling on the floor and the body jerking. What you described could have been one.

I will keep your daughter and family in my prayers.
I agree with read52, it sounds like it could have been a seizure. That's how one of my friends dd seizures are.
Hope you can get in sooner.

I agree! I used to take care of several teens with seizures and that sounds just like some they have had! many times its just a wierd feeling

My dh has seizures after having viral encephilitis. Sometimes his right hand shakes and nothing else. It does not go away unless he takes meds. Once in the hospital, they let him go for 3 hours. Sometimes he just passes out. He will come out of it but if I tap him on the face he will come out sooner. If he stays out long, he becomes disoriented. He also gets something called Todd's paraylsis.
It is on his right side. He can lose use of his leg, arm, and speech all at once or individually. He has to take meds to correct it or wait 24 hours. Also he stares at times. All of these are types of seizures that most people do not know about. Many times people will not remember what happened to them. So have it checked even though she is feeling well now.
