Gas Mileage?

What kind of vehicle do you have and what's your gas mileage? I have a 04 jeep liberty I bought new and the gas mileage has always been terrible, around 14 miles to the gallon (I thought with a small vehicle it would have been better).

'05 Mercury Montego AWD...19 town, 28 highway (this one is mine and I love it!!)
'03 Pontiac Grand Am......19 town, 24-25 highway
'00 Chrysler Cirrus......20 town, 25-26 highway
'00 GMC Sierra Pickup..13 town, 18-19 highway
'97 Buick Regal GS.......14 town, 22 highway
'94 Pontiac Transsport....18 town, 26-27 highway

Yes, I know...way to many vehicles but my DH bonds with his vehicles and to get rid of one would be like losing a member of the family. I only think of them as something to get me from point A to point B.

Wow. Do you have plates and insurance on all of them? I hate having to pay for plates and insurance for two cars; I can't imagine paying for 6 cars!

Yes, plates and insurance on all of them. Insurance runs a little over $2100/yr and I've never added up the plates. All take a regular car plate except the GMC pickup. We only have liability on the Transsport, Buick and Cirrus and full coverage on the other 3. Both of our boys are in college and they take the Transsport and Cirrus with them for 9 month out of the year.

Fortunately we put up a 40 X 45 building a few years back to store the overflow from the regular 2 car garage. This also stores the array of bicycles, golf cart, and loads of other stuff that just keeps appearing on a regular basis. Sometimes it's just overwhelming!

I drive a 96 chevy lumina back and forth to work. When I'm good, I think I can get about 26-27 miles to the gallon. I drive mostly highway. It's getting older, so I think the miles per gallon has gone down on it.

05 Dodge Magnum average of about 19 to 20. If we are doing hwy driving it gets about 22-24 (which is fab for a V8)
97 Ford F150 around 12-14. Luckily it's DH's vehicle and it's only driven 20 miles a day to work and back.
we also have a Honda motorcycle (forgot the year) that gets over 40. That's what DH drives mostly

Just curious how people are able to differentiate between city and highway? I can only do an average because it is always a mix of the two. Just wondering...

I traded in my '05 Liberty (yes the gas mileage sucks...I was lucky if I got it up to 16 mpg ) for a '09 Dodge Journey. It's the new crossover from Dodge and I love it! Drives like a cadillac!! City mileage I get 19.5 - 20.5 but I have yet to take it on the highway.

On my vehicle, I can reset the MPG average for when I am driving on the highway, and then again if I am in city.

Not sure if yours has this, but if so, try that and see if you can track your MPG.

I think I remember a thread like this a couple of months back, but here are mine again

'05 Jaguar Not sure what gas mileage he gets (dh car). All I know is it takes premium gas (ugh)
'06 Grand Prix I average about 26 mpg on hwy and about 19-20 in town.
'97 Jeep Grand Cherokee. 14 mpg hwy. I don't even bother to look at it in the city.
It's only used to pull our camper and the occasional child/friend that needs a car to drive.

I don't drive on the freeway much, but It think it said 33mpg. (takes premium fuel)
we also have an 04 ford explorer that doesn't get great mileage.

we are looking into a new better mileage small vehicle.
any ideas?

the smart car didn't have great ratings and the mini cooper is quite pricey for the size. Every one that is available in our area is about 25k.
