I used to but it's much more expensive than I liked. I own a small online business and I use paypal: https://www.paypal.com/us/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=_ship-now for usps. I use fedex.com for my fedex shipments. I bought a scale that goes up to 50 lbs (needed that much for my biz) on sale at Staples but many opt for a 10lb scale (available at any office supply store). I use a refurbished thermal printer I bought on ebay for under $50 (6 years later it's still going strong) and get free labels from fedex for it. I print USPS on 2 per page labels.

stamps.com used to be (when I used it) a prepaid postage service where you could print your labels off instead of going to the post office. Paypal does the same thing (only it's pay as you go), it's free to use (stamps.com charges a monthly fee...or they used to) and you get free delivery confirmation on priority items.

Now I have not used it for YEARS but you can't just print a stamp. You print a label with postage. So, you used to be able to print off a label to grandma for .42 (first class) but it's not just a stamp you can put on any old piece of mail. It's dated and has the address of the person to whom you are sending it to. You must send printed postage in the mail within 1 day or printing I believe.

you don't need special paper. I suppose you could print off on regular paper and tape it on. I use printable stickers for ease of use. I would be leary of a free month. They will probably want your credit card to do it and will charge you if you don't cancel on time. I've heard of them sending people "free" scales and then when they customer cancels, they want the scale back or they are charged for it....weird stuff like that

I use stamps.com and I love it. We also did the free trial (several years ago now) and I and my boss liked it so much we signed up. The monthly fee gets charged to the company credit card, it's very easy to order supplies and to add postage to your account. I like this way better than Pitney Bowes. They charge you and arm and leg just for maintanence!
