Does anyone have one of the new Kitchenaid Dishwashers?

I just bought the mid/upper line Kitchenaid dishwsher, and I have a question for anyone else that might have one.

Have you had any problems with white soap scum on your glasses and silverware?
If so, what did you do about it?

It's just horrible! I have to wash my dishes by hand.

Is this the replacement to another dishwasher, or were you washing everything by hand before? If the former, I'd think you'd be best off contacting Kitchenaid, and making your complaint. This is a company that will send you photocopies of manuals from the 70's, so I'd hope they'd be helpful. If the latter, it's probably your water. We have the same problem, and filling the open cup halfway with citric acid helps a ton. The one I have is called Lemi-Shine (had to check, since I always forget), and it's with the detergents in Wal-Mart, and probably grocery stores, too.

Thanks for your response!
I had an older Kitchenaid before I got this new one, so I wanted to go with the same brand since my older one worked just fine and did my dishes FANTASTIC. I only bought a new one because I had changed the color of appliances in my kitchen.
The old one is still in my garage, and I am so wishing I had it back!!!

It could very well be our water, because we don't use a water softener, but again, I have not had this problem with my last one, so who knows.

I did call Kitchenaid, and they told me to use liquid instead of powder detergent, and only 1 tbl of liquid. They said that also if I am using powder I might be using too much. They said the newer dishwashers do not take a lot of detergent like the older ones.
Sooo I am going to try that as well!
If not, back it goes and I will just get a cheapy Maytag or something on that lines. No sense in having a dishwasher that cost almost a $1000 dollars if it is useless at washing dishes!!!! ugh.

I had a similar problem, the dishes felt like they had grit on them. I asked the repair man that was here fixing something else. He said try differant brands of soap and also before turning the dishwasher on run the hot water a couple of minutes, he said that when the machine first starts it takes awhile for the water to turn hot. I tried it and it worked.
