Do you check the *unit* price when you buy groceries? I've taught my DH to do this...

I have noticed things like a half gallon of ice cream has not been a half gallon in quite a while, but the mayo and stuff!! Yikes...also, did you notice the shelf prices for some of this stuff?? seemed very high to me, but where I live there is a pretty low cost of living.Video showed 6.29 ice cream, 2.50 fleishmans margarine tubs...I dont hink our prices here are near that (some of that stuff I wouldnt buy unless it was a deal)

We notice this ourselves. It's ridiculous! Another way for rich people to rob working people. Make the packages smaller raise the price instead of losing money like everyone else we increase our profit margin. Too bad for all idiots who have to buy our products but we are laughing driving our Hummers to the bank.

Yes, I first really noticed this with Breyer's ice cream. It went from 2 qts. to 1.75, and now I see some are 1.5 quarts. I emailed Uni-Lever, who makes Breyers telling them I don't like this practice. I got no reply in the email, but, they did send me a coupon for a FREE Breyer's item. I waited for it to go BOGO, and got TWO for FREE.

I have noticed this too. It really makes me angry. The execs that make millions are making sure they get their yearly million dollar raises and bonus' as usual.

I've noticed and seen news reports on it. I bet most people don't even look. I always look at unit price. Sometimes the smaller package is a better deal than the larger package or a generic can be more then a name brand when you figure out the per oz cost
