How many languages do you speak?

I was reading a buyers feedback on Ebay and the guy must speak at least 3 languages, he's buying from everywhere and leaving feedbacks in their own language, very impressive!

I only speak english fluently. I did speak German but haven't used it in so long I don't remember most of it. If you gave me a sentence, I could probably figure out what it says but that's it.

I wish I could speak either Spanish or Chinese, but I don't put the effort into it unless you count watching Dora with the kids.

What can you speak and what do you wish you knew?

I personally only speak English, and badly most of the time. However, DH can speak 5 languages...English, Italian, German, Korean and Farsi. He grew up speaking Italian and English so it was natural for him to pick up other languages when he joined the Army. I would love to speak Italian...only because I don't get the inside jokes his family tells.

Fluently, only English.

My dad's side of the family is Japanese. When I was little my grandma spoke mostly Japanese to me (and me back to her) but I'll be damned if I can remember it now. It always amazes me though when I'm on the phone with her and she starts speaking Japanese, I can usually understand most of it. I can't understand it when anyone else speaks it though.

I also moved to Germany when I was 8yr old and lived there for 2.5 yrs. I picked up some of the language, but have forgotten most of it too.

Took French in high school, sucked at it.

I've had friends through out my life that spoke Spanish, I can sorta understand it ...sometimes. Can't speak it.

I'm only fluent in English. I can speak broken French and Spanish. I took years of French in public school and a few years ago I took three semesters of Spanish at the local college. I'm not very good at learning foreign languages, but I love to try. I would love to speak Japanese, mainly because I'd like to go to Japan some day and it would be great to be able to communicate.

I can speak English fluently. I can say a few things in French (took in high school EONS ago... ) but that's it. Oh and I think I can count to 10 in Spanish (thanks to Dora.....LOL). Dh can speak English of course and Polish, and quite a bit of German. That helps since Austrians bought his company and he works along side guys (and 1 girl who is a sweetheart) who speaks German most of the time, plus he spent time in Germany. I may have to learn Italian cuz there may be a chance he'll go work at their plant in Italy and will live there for a few years. (crossing my fingers on that one!!)

English

I did take 4 years of high school German and 2 years of sign language in college. I don't really remember any German but I can still communicate with the Deaf on a basic level ~ and have had to a few times over the years. I understand quite a bit of Spanish from living in a mostly Hispanic community but don't speak it at all.

I speak English and Italian pretty fluently. I read and write English, French and Italian fluently. I can read and make conversation in Spanish mainly due to my Italian and osmosis-I picked up the differences by listening and observing. I need to and want to take a Spanish class.

I forgot about ASL I know the alphabet from the 70s so it's probably different and I know some words and phrases.

(I would never say I speak French LOL that is something you can do only if you are born there-at least according to the French!)

I speak English and Toddler fluently.

I know a little sign language. My grandparents are from Mexico but none of their kids speak Spanish (my grandparents grew up in the US during a time when it was illegal to speak Spanish here).

English, Pig Latin, and a few words of Spanish -- enough to get my point across.

I grew up in a predominantly Hispanic community and so I can understand almost anything and I know most of the swear words in Spanish. Sometimes when I am speaking English with my Hispanic friends from childhood, I hear the Spanish accent creep into my own voice... I laugh to think about it! Ay-yi-yi!

English and some Spanish. I try to speak it at work to the people that speak Spanish. I took Spanish 4 in high school and didn't need it in college.
Did you know that taking English 470 (children's literature) counted as a foreign language. it was a great course and I highly recommend it!

I have learned a couple of phrases in Chinese (there is a guy at works that only speaks chinese, he understands very little English) and I try to learn from him.

english fluently

I can understand a tad bit of spanish but couldn't speak it as in a conversation. I can do the *normal* counting of up to 20 in spanish as well. I took 4 years of French in high school but I can't speak it. I can read a lot and figure out more if it's signage. I could order food and pick out bread and maybe go to the airport LOL

I would like to learn more spanish. DH and I have talked about the kids (9 and 7) and the two of us doing it together. I think the most important language to learn for the future is Chinese
