do you have a nickname?

just thinking about the nicknames in my family.my name is joy but no one calls me that. I am littlejo. ( I am reallllllly short) my hubby has been booboo since I married him.our daughter , when born was very little. the nurse in the delivery room said she was so "tinky" so she was stuck with the nickname tinky. lol. my mom is mamaw to everyone. not just family but everyone who knows her. my sister is a little on the chunky side and when "tinky" was little, she nicknamed her "poo" cause she was soft and fuffly like pooh bear.
thats the whole family I have left. she brought her boyfriend home one time for a family dinner and the poor guy asked if anyone in our family had REAL names. lol.
just wondering what other peoples nicknames are and how they got them.

Our daughter is the only one in our family that is called by a nickname. When she was little, she couldn't pronounce her name so she called herself "Dee-yaa". She was about 18 months at the time and it stuck. Our son called her "Die-yaa" until he was about 4 - it was a crack-up! Growing up she said she hated it but now that she's 17 she just accepts it. The only ones who call her that are DH, my mom, her favorite uncle and, occassionally, me.

My sister had the nickname "June Bug" and our oldest sister still calls her Bug.

Not really, but my son does. When Jason was on the football team in high school, everyone called him Pudge. The teachers even called him that. He was big and overweight...260 pounds. Now, at 25, he weighs 140-150 pounds, and all of the people who knew him in high school STILL call him Pudge. It's really funny now.

No, but, we call DS "bubba". That was easier for DD to say than his actual name. His friends call him an abbreviated version of his given birth name. I can't bring myself to do that.....yet. LOL....when DS was in the hospital, one of his friends came to visit him and when they were leaving, DD said "bye Bubba...." His friend looked at him and said "YEAH....Bye BUBBA" I said "yup, you'll be on the bus when you get back to school, and from the back, you'll hear "HEY BUBBA!!!" LOL....

No nickname. I don't like the nickname that goes with my name - not for me. I know others who use it, and it suits them.

It also stinks when people butcher my real name (since there's no nickname option), but I'd take that over my presumed nickname any day...

I must be one of those people that look like they need a nickname.
When I was little it was Cinders or Cinderella. Now it is Cinda Lou or LuLu. And coworkers/staff call me Super Cin short for supervisor Cindi.
Of course these are from people that like me. I'm sure the people that don't have other nicknames for me.
My name is Cynthia and is only used to sign checks.

Funny story here within the last week.....Our nephew and wife just had a baby 10 days ago and named him Talan. When someone asked my husband what the middle name was, (being the crazy one that he is) he said Alan. (Actually it is Matthew). Now everyone calls the baby Talan Alan or TA. Wow....it is remarkable how these names get started!

Krispy is my nickname too! Programed in all friend's cells that way too! My friend gave all of us nicknames when we worked together. Mine was Krispy Kreme cause that's what came to his mind at the time and it just stuck. My mom calls me Kritter and my sister calls me Sissy. Step kids call me Missy (short for Miss Kristee) and nephew calls me Auntie.

Everybody calls my fiancee Troll. I guess cause he's round-ish and has long hair (kinda like a treasure troll)!

My DD (Megan) gets called: Meg, Megs, Meggie-moo, Shug (short for sugar), Mimi, and she only lets her daddy call her Rugrat.

The dog Lucy has a ton of nicknames: Lucy Lu, Little LuLu, Lucille Ball, Lou Vega (basically anything that has Lu in it!).

Nicknames are fun!

The only "nickname" I have now is Lis...short for Lisa. My Grandmother used to call me "Angel" and my Grandfather called me "Kissy Face". I called them "Gran" and "Poppy". This one guy used to call me "Tron" like the game...because he thought I played games. My daughter is the only one of my kids who has a nickename...Her name is "Samantha", but we call her "Mantha" because that's what her brothers called her when they were little...My husband's friends used to call him "Thud" because he would make alot of noise when he walked. ~Lisa

I've never had a nickname. But, when DS was a toddler we use to call him pee-pie and/or peepers (it came about from when we'd pay peek-a-boo). When he was around 4-yrs old I started calling him sweetfart instead of sweetheart. I guess it was more of a game we'd play rather than a nickname. I'd call him sweetfart and he'd say, "No, you're a sweetfart!" He was my sweetfart until he started elementary school. After that, I wasn't even allowed to kiss him good-bye in the morning when I dropped him off at school. I guess he was terrified someone would see. Now that he's grown he's not afraid to give mom a kiss or say, "I love you." in public anymore. But, in my heart, he'll always be my little sweetfart.
