SPINOFF: Which do you have - mac or windows based laptop/desktop?

We have 3 notebooks, all windows based. I HATE HATE HATE HATE macs. I especially hate the no right click thing. Drives me crazy when I have to use a mac.

We have both. We have a MacBookPro laptop (mine) and an iMac desktop. We also have two Windows desktops and one Windows based laptop. So I guess we're a totally bi-platform family.

As far as the right click thing goes....on a Mac you can CTRL click to get the right click menus.

We have both (not by choice).

My school is implementing laptops for all students (grades 4-6) this year so all teachers received a Macbook.

We have a windows based desktop and laptop at home, too.

So far, I am not a fan of the Macbook. Everything is just a little bit different and it drives me crazy!!!

Windows only at the moment, though I'm not a Mac user. There's an Ubunto CD waiting for one of the old hard drives.

LOL....sounds like us.....we have the IMac desk top, 2 Windows desk tops, and a Windows laptop. DS did something and we DO have right click on our MAC. I'll have to ask him what he did.

You've probably just got a two-button mouse. Macs traditionally just have one button. I have had people ask me how to right-click and do other basic things on a Mac, which always seemed a bit odd. If you find them confusing, why buy one? I've used most kinds of computers, back when there were a few more options, but never got into Apples for some reason.

3 Windows laptops and 1 Windows desktop. DH is thinking about going to a Mac for his business software, since he heard it's better than what he has.

It must depend on the mouse b/c last year at school, they got tons of new macs to put in the computer labs and NONE had right click!

You are correct. The standard mouse that comes with the iMacs is the normal regular Mac mouse. The newer "Mighty Mouse" has the right click sensitivity. However if you control + click with a regular Mac mouse , you will have the right click menus come up.

Apple - Mighty Mouse

We have a few windows pc's and laptops because of DH's work but he tells all our friends and family to buy a Mac. Mac's are much more stable, easier to use and fewer virus issues.

If it is the mouse with the little button, called the mighty mouse that comes with all macs, then it does have right click. It has to be programmed though, by going into system preferences and selecting whether or not you want right click and several other options. I'm guessing that your mouse wasn't programmed to right click yet.
