Wow - I love this thread! Fayva - for shoes - I LOVED Fayva! JM Fields - We loved this store! I still remember their going out of business sale - I stocked up on satin shorts! LOL (disco era) Caldor - great store Bradlees - this was our main department store in town. Merry Go Round - I was too intimidated to go into this store - all the sales people were on commission on the one near us - I thought they'd tell me I looked good, even if they really thought I looked wacky. Billy4 Zayres and Aames Amazing Stores - Owned by "Mr. Amazing" - you could by "Elvis Presley Love Me Tender" hand lotion here for .97 Ahhh - now I'm feeling nostalgic...

Caldor - reminds me of a nicer version of KMart Child World - I used to love that place when I was a kid Abraham & Strauss (A&S) - clothing Service Merchandise Finast - food Consumers Distributing - I had to look up the name on google - it was a catalog showroom store - you'd place an order from the catalog and wait for it to be brought out. kind of like Service Merchandise but much less merchandise on display. |

| Me too! You could find anything in that store that you needed. We had one when we lived in Hawaii...downtown Honolulu...1991...It was a two level store, which you don't see often...It had the best inexpensive souveniers! I had forgotten about some of the stores you all listed... Korvettes, Benjamin Franklin (had that out in HI), Fayva, and Best! Another one I thought of just now was Upton's. They had them here in GA. When we first moved down here in 1996 I discovered them and loved shopping there! Are they still in business? ~Lisa |

Hills-discount store similar to Ames G.C. Murphy-the one where my grandma lived had an upstairs and downstairs Super Duper-a grocery store, not sure if it was part of a chain. It was the best when we were little kids because it was the only grocery store that had LIVE lobsters in a tank in the meat department. We joke now that it was "Poor people's Sea World".
