Question Wedding Cookie Help?

Hi...I need some help with choosing, pricing & how many wedding cookies...

Alright...There are approx. 200 people...How many cookies do you count per person? Local grocery store said '2'...Others have said '6'...So how many do you think?

Second---How much per dozen???

Third---How many different kinds???

TIA~

Is this for a side table?

Will it be occurring at the same time as cake and ice-cream (after dinner)?

Or is this something you're putting together to go home with the guests?

well having just been married.....It seems like that might be a bit pricey. I have never seen them at weddings around here. Would they be in place of favors for the guests?

When I was looking for favors I saw a cute site that had a "cookie" table. They were made by a local bakery. All of them were chocolate chip (or a flavor that the couple liked)
there were beautiful jars on the table filled with the ingredients to make the cookies. Chocolate chips, sugar, flour, etc.
It was decorated so nicely. I think there were boxes for the people to take them home.

Just remember that not everyone will be interested so you might not even have to have one for everyone! You could place them out on cute plates wrapped up so it would be easier for your guests to take with them.

Boy with my wedding and all of the things I had to do, i am glad I didn't do the candy table that I wanted to do. My wedding was costly enough!
HTH and let me know if you need any more info!!

If you are Italian, it is a given to have cookies! I have literally seen little old ladies push each other out of the way to get to them at weddings here. Based on the amounts I have seen at the weddings I work, I would say 4 would be average, although the people that do take them, usually take more than that. The bakeries here in upstate NY charge around $10/lb and depending on the cookies you choose, there are around 15-20 per pound I would say. If you are getting them from a bakery you would just need to tell them how many people and they will figure out how much you would need. Not sure your time frame, but you might look in your local paper for people who do these as a side business. They would be excellent homemade cookies and probably a bit less expensive than a bakery.

As a side note, I make Italian cookies for my family and have made them for 200+ guests for 2 of my brothers weddings. They are a labor of love and just the ingredients are expensive not counting the time it takes to make them and plate them up.

Good luck!!

What a neat/fun tradition!

I am, 40-something, born & raised in So. CA and have never, ever heard of this. I had to Google it to learn more about it.

Thanks for sharing!

I have never heard of this tradition either. That being said, I would probably go w/ the grocery store's recommendation.

I can't remember a wedding that didn't have home-made cookies

Normally around here, it's the family and close friends who do the baking (rather than a bakery or grocery store) so the cookies are realllly delicious

I baked cookies for a friend's wedding. The *cookie organizer* told us each to make 12 dozen cookies, because the average was 8 per person! Yikes! I don't know about you, but I never eat my fair share. I didn't mind making them for the wedding, but NOT for people to just take home. I politely made about 6 dozen. No one noticed, and there were still tons of cookies left over.

Most weddings around here have a cookie table, but I personally don't think it's necessary.

Wow. I never heard of this tradition either. I've never heard of ice cream being served with the cake at a wedding either. Man, I want to go to PA weddings!

LOL, maybe this is a New England Italian thing as I have witnessed this many times. Had the cookies at my wedding, most weddings I go to, every baby shower etc. I married into this tradition.
