Angelina Jolie & Brad Pitt have their twins, a boy and a girl

From People.com:

"Brad Pitt was at Angelina Jolie's side as she gave birth to a son and daughter Saturday at the Fondation Lenval hospital in Nice, France, PEOPLE has confirmed.

"The babies are doing well. The operation went just perfectly," Dr. Michael Sussmann told PEOPLE Sunday. "Angelina is in very good spirits. Brad Pitt was at her side. He was there and all was well."

Sussmann confirmed the Nice Matin newspaper report that Jolie gave birth to a boy, Knox Leon, and a girl, Vivienne Marcheline, by Cesarean section on Saturday night. Knox weighed 5.03 lbs, and Vivienne 5 lbs.

The twins are the fifth and sixth children for Jolie, 33, and partner Brad Pitt, 44, who are already parents to Maddox, 6; Pax, 4; Zahara, 3; and Shiloh, 2.

"The mother and father are very, very happy," Sussmann told PEOPLE.

The doctor told the Associated Press that the Cesarean was moved forward "for medical reasons" so that the babies could be born "in the best conditions." He also said Jolie is expected to stay in the hospital for a few days.

On July 1, Jolie checked in to the Fondation Lenval hospital to await the births. The family has been living in the south of France since this spring.

Jolie recently told Entertainment Weekly that she was surprised – but not daunted – when she learned she was having twins. "It did shock us, and we jumped to six [children] quickly," she said. "But we like a challenge."

Aah, sweet. Let the work begin! I'm sure that they will have help.

I noticed that all of the boys' name in the family end with the letter *x*

If you are reading this Angelina, and I am sure you and Brad hit MyCoupons quite frequently, congrats to you and your brood! Just curious, wondering if they will stop having babies now that Brad has a biological son? They do make good-looking kids though-Shiloh is absolutely adorable!

I am very happy for them. They have both become great samaritans and givers in their privileged lives. They have volunteered worldwide in third world countries and one a lot of work in New Orleans also. They have been blessed to receive many great things in their lives and enjoy a great life, but they also give back much and have great hearts and souls. May their lives and those of all their children continue to be blessed.

jeanief, I agree. They're people who really put their money where their mouths are. I'm thrilled for them.

Linnybop, I believe they want to adopt another child of color for Zahara.

Do they really enjoy a great life? How much time do they get to spend w/ each other? Who takes care of the children?

Money can buy a lot, but I'm not sure that it buys happiness. Regardless of any of this, as I wish for all families: Healthy babies, healthy mommy.

i think i read somewhere that angelina said she only works like 4 months a year. and Brad doesnt work when she works and she doesnt work when Brad works. so i think they have more time with their kids then the average person does with theirs. i dont know how any celeb does it living in a fish bowl with camaras around you all the time, i would crack!

One of them is with their children at all times. They do have help in the home, but not for the major purpose of child care. They are extremely involved parents, and, as mentioned in an earlier post, are very blessed to be able to spend more time with their children then many other families and parents. There are celebs who have kids as eye candy or to bolster their images and then just hand them over to nannies. But Brad and Angelina are NOT like that at all, if that is what you are assuming.

well, unless you know them personally--you like me only know what we see in the media. Frankly, I have no clue as to whether Brad and/or Angelina are good parents.

I was just thinking aloud, so to speak. No one really knows what goes on in any family--famous or not. Outward appearances can be deceiving--good or bad.

Regardless of their parenting skills/ability, financial resources and/or involvement in their children's lives, I still wish only health for the babies and the mommy.

I believe that I read that they are NOT going to get married until everyone in the United States are able to have the same right (marriage) regardless on who they choice to marry.

Gee, I didn't know you knew them personally!

We don't know what goes on behind closed doors. To me, it looks like Angelina rules the roost and Brad tags along (toting the children with him). But I wish them the best. Having twins is a major adjustment in a family and both parents need to be involved. In our case, we didn't have the 'nanny' to help us or have all the big dollars to fall back on. We did it on our own (as I'm sure all the posters on these boards do).

Hey, and I get a free subscription to STAR magazine, so you KNOW I have the inside track on those two!! (LOL!)
