I don't know what I missed in the way of harassment. And if the harassment was done behind the scenes (IM and/or emails) then why bring it out in the open. YOU have given the trolls the satisfaction of knowing that they 1) got to 4 mods, 2) and got to you.

I totally agree. She's feeding the trolls and that's what they want. Not a very good moderator in my opinion.

I think it would be very frustrating to be a moderator. The trolls are nasty.

I don't feel she is feeding the trolls.Shes just using her privilge as a mycoupons member to vent just like everyone else does.Just because shes a mod or was a mod doesn't take away her right to vent too.
Curious as to who the trolls are and how they could possibly see anything to herass over.I haven't seen any of the mods post anything that could cause a conflict.

It might be what they want but sometimes the nice folks HAVE to vent for their sanity. We know it won't stop them but sometimes you just have to call them out.

How is this calling them out??? I don't see any names here......that would be helpful. The only "recent" trolls I can recall is ProudUSMama. Sadly, some people seem to think anyone who recently signed up is automatically a troll

Haven't seen that troll on here for a while, have we? Maybe the mod could list the trolls? I actually haven't seen 'trolls' as such -- just people with different opinions on issues. When I think of a troll, I think of someone new who comes in all of a sudden and makes trouble.

I thought the trolls were people that have more than one user name. Saving one just to be nasty.

Well I am completely clueless here..but I will say that I think that whatever "troll" or who/whatever it is that is going on here..is probably feeding most off the fact that you are all bashing a mod for expressing her anger/hurt/feelings over what they have done.

Shouldn't a mod be required to have at least a modicum of self restraint? A smidgen of professionalism? A hint of impartiality? A clue?

Apparently not in this case. Thankfully, this is not the norm with most of the mods here who do a wonderful and thankless job.

Guess it really doesn't matter since she's not a mod anymore I can totally understand her wanting to "vent". Especially if the "trolls' have made it their mission to personally attack her for something that has happened on a public board for something she probably felt was needed by her "job" at the time.

Just my humble opinion. I have/had nothing at all to do with whatever is going on here, I rarely post and mostly lurk, but I have seen a LOT of hateful, spiteful, small minded things posted here recently. I don't know if it's the election coming up, or the hot weather, or what but people need to stop and think that there is an actual live person behind that username and whatever they say even if it is meant in fun or whatever can and usually does hurt. And when people have been hurt enough they tend to hurt back.

Ok, gonna shut up now. Go back into lurker mode I will probably get jumped by someone but oh well. Can't please everyone, right

No It doesn't really matter since Squeak is not a Mod, She is allowed to voice her opinion on any board on MC. Leave the girl alone , let her get it out! There are no mods on certain boards here now.

I guess it is up to the members to conduct themselves in an adult manner. I suppose it was always suppose to be that way, but certain members do not know how to just leave well enough alone. I am not bashing or calling anyone out so dont take it that way. I am still posting under my Ex-mod name , was going to go back to my old name, but decided otherwise.


P.S. What the heck happend to my "lifetime member " status!

FWIW, i don't even believe that the people who were the most hurtful even see that they had any part in it. Some people don't see that their negativity has a very nasty ripple effect.

But I still hope you can weed through it and enjoy the good that's here!

Wouldn't it help the mods if they were able to actually enforce the rules that are stated on here? Not censoring, etc... but following the "stated" rules. According the the posted guidelines it seems like trolls could be banned.

Some time ago, when I was a mod I was told that banning people looked bad and it was bad for business. Now this was not under Greg at the time...so I don't know what the current line of thought is.

for your information I posted that I had left on the boards I personally moderated!
and if you look at my record I have not been very controversial!
but when people throw a huge hissy fit over following the rules, it just gets to be too much! the mods and former mods are caring feeling people and there are some here that take great pleasure in being hurtful and destructive! I felt a need to call it like it is!

OK, I've been trying not to chime in, but it's really getting to me. I've thought about being a mod, but thought twice about it. It's pretty much a thankless volunteer job. Even though we don't know who the trolls are, and haven't *seen* recent evidence of them...they are always here. A lot of the nasty stuff actually goes on behind the scenes in the form of e-mails and PMs. I'm sure you can only take so much.

Thank you to all the mods past and present. I for one really appreciate all you have done.

Hate to break it to you, but that happens to regular members also, not just mods.

And not that you would have noticed in your quest to only see the bad side of me, but I've frequently said that both Cindy and Irish were pretty damn cool. I still think so.

One of the differences being...if a certain member says something unpopular they may get called on the carpet by other members, but if one mod says something unpopular all of a sudden it's "the mods". I think squeak was just trying to say, some members feel a freedom in bashing mods because they are mods. This is a such a tiny, tiny, tiny amount of members that it makes it insignificant, till you're on the receiving end of it.

Moderators are individual members of the community here and should be held to the same standards as all other members, no more, no less.

I agree with you, I think Cindy and Irish are pretty damn cool!

It is getting a little old - blaming mods for deleted posts, favoritism, breathing the wrong way, etc.

We're sitting here enjoying a free website affiliated with coupons, and yet there is always the predictable criticism, negativity and bashing from the same old pack - regarding the volunteers who do their best in a thankless position.

If anyone feels personally hurt by the decisions that have been made by the mods in the past, that is bewildering to me. It's a MESSAGE board for people who were originally brought together by their use of coupons. Put that into perspective in your lives... time to get over it! It never ceases to amaze me that it is consistently the same old posters who rant and rave about how wrong it was for a mod to have said this, or to have done that. Goodness - even a former mod's departing words are analyzed to death here! Talk about too much time in ones hands...

We all ended up losing on this particular go 'round. We had great mods, and fair rules. I'd suggest that the whiners step up and take over, but I don't think it would be a very nice *climate* around here.

So get over it, and try something called self-monitoring. If you write too much too soon, there's always an edit button. If all of this is too much, then find a new board that has moderators who does things (for free) the way you like them. Otherwise, time to do some long overdue self-evaluating...

and couldn't the same be said for the moderators? If someone has personally "attacked" them(and I'm speaking to the verbal/written attack, not the stalking. Stalking is an indication of some serious mental issues/instability), should they put it into perspective and get over it?

I'm sure it's difficult being a moderator--and I'm not sure that everyone is cut out to me one. And quite frankly, moderators(be they paid or volunteer) should be non-biased. And sometimes, being non-biased means putting your own thoughts, feelings, and opinions aside. I have, on occasion, seen moderators be extremely opinionated and just as argumentative as myself--that's not a good moderator.

Be that as it may--I liken Squeak's original post to those posters who have posted "I'm leaving". It's attention seeking, and the need to hear people ask you not to go and/or give praise to the "wronged" person.

Can't MC just trace the IP and ban the IP of the person(s) doing the email/pm thing? It would be so easy to figure out who the double/triple/quadruple people are.

Of course, I don't think MC wants to do that, or it would be done.

A long time ago, the IP was visible with the post. Things were better then.

I for one have held my tongue and that was very hard for me. I have also lashed out and it wasn't nice. I am a very strong person and always tell how I feel........ ask Mary !. I have a truckers mouth and it has been very hard for me to hold my opinion in.

I am not going to mod anymore but I will post freebies. I love finding the freebies and actually making sure everyone has the chance to get them. I just feel that certain members , need to curb the tongue a bit and first think of how it comes out and how someone may take it, since we do not show emotions and we are unable to see a person facial expression. Being on a forum is hard . Its hard to read a post and not feel anything about it.

Everyone here on MC's are great people, we have all had some kind of trouble in our life and maybe some of us ask for help. Or for some opinions , but when those opinions turn into down and out criticism , name calling and just plain mean posts. There is a time to put a stop to it.

I hope in the past I have not taken sides, I can only remember being asked by a member for help, I helped and got kicked in the mouth, by the member I helped., then the rest of the board chimed in. Not really knowing the true story, it got out of hand.

That is the past and I got over it. I think we should all start fresh, show MC that it can run without Mods. We are adults, lets just start acting like it.


Lets face it Ladies!....... we need to stick together and not be bitches! Lets show our new members what kind of a family we are on MC and have fun with it.
