Wink describe your decorating style in your home peace

Ok I will start I first have to say i believe i was born in the wrong era, cause I simply love all very very old things with that being sadi, I live in a center hall colonial which I truly love and to put a name on the inside sytle would be antiique country french shabby chic, if that makes sense to anyone lol. I love to collect old linens and blankets and hankercheifs sp???. I love only wood furniture the older the the older the better i love old hand painted pieces of furniture. I love to collect old tea pots old china plates and my favorite are old china cups and plates cause I am a big tea drinker. I love all shades of blue and yellow to death and especially love hues tones of any pastel colors. I simply cannot stand modern furniture or mirrors on the wall and I do not like the colors red or gold. Ok there goes and again I have found many treasures for pennies at garage and rummage sales, so peace to all and plmk and share catherine

I like modern casual I call it. I am very organized and my house reflects that. We also live in a very small one bdrm 750 sq ft house so we have to make the most of every inch. We just bought new furniture this year so everything is pretty up to date. That being said if I had more money I would have plusher furniture brighter colors (because I could redo or get new when tired of it or the season changes). My style would be to change the furniture and paint with the seasons.

I don't think mine has a name? I guess I am eclectic, I love the old but it has to go with the new. We have mostly neutral or earthy tones downstairs with overstuffed furniture and art on almost every free wall (my weakness). Upstairs is a rainbow in the bedrooms, everyone is a different color and we have a shabby chic guest room and the kids picked their own colors for their rooms.

The house is a "french colonial", so I am trying to keep with that theme.

I love to decorate with the colors that I would least likely wear! I wouldn't be caught dead in poppy red, yellows, earthy greens (not good for pinkish-pale skin tones). And actually I don't even think it sounds like these colors belong together when I typed them in just now - LOL!

But I LOVE the look of our house for the 1st time in my adult life. I think it looks like "me" even though they're not at all the purples, pinks, blues and blacks that I like to wear.

I wonder if that's typical - do most people use one set of colors to decorate , and a completely different one to wear? Hmm.

I like shabby chic, and classic types of furniture. I love overstuffed couches, lots of pillows and throws. I am not at all the "IKEA" type of furniture girl - I don't go for the simple frame/clean line look. But my sister loves that look, and her house is pretty and inviting. So it works for her.

My house is modern/eclectic decorated. Although I can admire shabby chic, traditional or french country in other homes...not way would it fit in mine. In my living room I have a "maple syrup" color (warm brown with orange tones) and in my dining room kitchen (which is open and connected to the living room), we just finished painting it a teal blue/green. I detest white walls for the most part. My living room tables are slate and metal. We have comfy lazy boys that are green. I do not like overstuffed furniture you get lost in. I like simple non-fussy things. No knick knacks.

I will say I am very fickle with decorating and my tastes change. I paint about every 2 years because I'm sick of the color on the walls and paint is cheap. I like to paint. I can appreciate every style but many are too fussy for me

Um....country redneck? I live in a log cabin, so I collect lots of antiques (I have a spinning wheel, a tea cart, lots of cups/saucers that I got from my aunt and great aunt, a wash stand, etc) but it's also decorated with lots of camo. From the furniture covers to the bedding to the phone.....it's camo/hunter/redneck haven.

Le's see, my house is a cape cod style and my decorating style can best be described as cottage cozy. I have new and antique pieces mixed together. The living room and dining room color scheme is green/red/cream with golden yellow walls (the dining room is a sagey green). Not too many knick-knacks - I put most things away when the kiddos came along and could knock things off the tables. I like small groupings of things I love. For example, One one table I have a small stack of books that were my grandfathers, a rusty metal paint pallette box type thing and a jar of sable paint brushes that were my dad's, There's a ceramic turtle one of my kids made and 2 photos -- my 3 kids at the beach and my parents, and a ceramic basket of hydrangeas.

The dining room and kitchen house my collection of vintage Fiestaware and other mid-century ceramic pieces. I love the color green and it show in my decorating -- I use it almost everywhere in my house. I keep the family photos to a minimum. I take lots of pictures but I just don't have room to display tons of them.

I guess I need a sense of decorating style! Like ILOVELUCY, I am really into antiques. I love the look and feel of older pieces of furniture, which really are a piece of art. The problem is putting different pieces together that fit together. So, livingroom is a mix of yester-year furniture, while family room (on a different level) has more of a modern feel with a contemporary sofa sectional.

My house is contemporary -- lots of chrome, mirrors, black vertical blinds (I hate drapes), abstract art and wall sculptures. Color scheme is red/black/tan.

DH and I are 61 and I think people are surprised that our house is so "modern" Especially the family room with its big screen tv and media chairs.

I love my house.

LOL, what about the Camo mailbox? Ours is what I call Modern Retro Funk. Lots of brights mixed with simple lines, chrome and pop. I love Ikea and want them to build one here, so I can hide and stay overnight in it!

I think mine would be classic, french countryish? I've been buying more antiques, love them. Nothing modern here whatsoever. Love things to be very pretty, comfortable, inviting. Love to decorate for the seasons.

My style is more "Early American Poor". My stuff mainly came from either Big Lots, relative donations, or Rent A Center sales. Man, I wish I had more money Oh, and I live in a log cabin home, too Built back in the 30's. Pretty nice for our first home, but I wish we again had more money we could have gotten something a bit bigger/newer.

My house is new, only three years old but it is cottage style. it is the only house in the neighborhood with this floor plan. I love it! I have a long front porch. I just finished getting my swing I have had in the gararge hung. Now I am outside everymorning drinking my coffee and reading the paper and watching the neighbors head to work. The insided of my house is a light canteloupe color and one wall is a burnt orange. Some of my walls is a light lime green with a geometric pattern of diamonds on the entry wall. I really love my house. I am not a brand dropper like some of my neighbors. I have a neighbor who only buys pottery barn. That is fine but I love buying my stuff because it makes me feel good inside, not because it is PB. My mother in law last year gave us a new sofa for christmas. That made my whole living room. It is from Lane and I believer will last for years!!! The kids room are simple but my little boy has a space theme, my little girl just has mixed pink, I can't go with a theme in her room, she has too many toys. I may do a theme for her this year and do it in dogs. I think she would like that! Life is really good!
