I pack bananas (or some other "easy" fruit) and either already made sandwiches or the makings. Water and depending on where we are going maybe beer for DH and Mike's Hard Lime for me.
I have to have my moisturizer and lip stuff I usually bring my purse then in the "beach bag" is towels, water shoes, drinks, food, etc.

Besides spf 30 & 50 sunscreens & extra towels I usually have:

chapstick
aloe vera gel
individual snack packs (too many boxes have been dropped/dumped in the sand) of crackers, cookies, etc.
fruit snacks
hairbands
hats
water shoes
extra sun glasses
water weinies (for when we go to the water park)

We also always bring a cooler with drinks, sandwiches & fruit.

ItsJustMe ~ I love the jar of peanut butter & plastic spoon suggestion! I'm going to add that to my cooler from now on ~ thanks!

A man I had worked with always took chunks of balogna. He said it tasted so much better on the beach and he would get ten pounds for the beach!
Packing tip: fold and roll clothing when you pack and more will fit in and not have to be ironed.

Baby powder. Sprinkle it on wet sandy little bodies and the powder absorbs the water so the sand brushes right off.
