| It wasn't me, but I could really use this info! I have 2 young female cats that I've recently brought in (May 1st & 20th), in addition to the 6 cats I already had. They're approximately 9-12 months old and I believe they may be sisters that were abandoned. They were both literally skin and bones when I brought them in.... especially Sophia, you could feel every single bone in her body. I just couldn't leave them outside to starve to death or get diseased. And, since they're females, they would've ended up pregnant and then there'd be even more to worry about. They are very sweet girls and I thought it'd be cheaper to just "adopt" them, but so far they've ended up costing me over $500! And, they've already been in heat since I've brought them in. Isabelle developed an infection (can't remember the name) due to being in heat and she was having vaginal bleeding. The vet said it's rare, but some cats develope this infection a week or 2 after coming out of heat. (Guess I got lucky. ) The bleeding has stopped now, but she's still on antibiotics. Anyway, I don't have the money to get them fixed right now, and it doesn't look like I'm going to be able to afford it for quite some time. I also can't afford to keep taking Isabelle to the vet every time she goes into heat if she continues to develope this infection when she comes out. So, if you could post or PM me with info that could help, I'd truely appreciate it. TIA!.

you can call some of your rescue groups. They can often provide names of vets in the area who provide this service or perhaps a program that subsidizes the procedures. Our local Humane Society performs these surgeries so they aren't going to refer people anywhere else.
