...on August 4 here. Sigh. I'm not ready and neither are the kids... Guess I better get out and buy them both a new shirt for the first day.

This is the first summer that I can remember that has flown by so quickly. Of course maybe it's because we just keep on starting earlier and earlier.

A teacher told me that teachers are starting on July 27 and will be docked $500 if they don't show up on that day. Bless the teachers.

School starts Aug. 11th here. Its just too early.

My kids go back Aug. 28 but I go back Aug. 25.

Kids start on August 25 here in NC. As a teacher, I would have to be back on Aug. 19 but I am on maternity leave until Jan. 2

I am going in next week to unpack (we moved into a brand new school.) I will probably go in on one of the workdays to meet with my sub and help get things organized!

We are year round here and started back July 7th.

Aug 11th here in the desert.

Sept 3rd for 2 kids and Sept 4th for another, I've got jeans to get, I've got alot of their school supplies and ready to send them out the door. if mine was civil to each other i'd be feeling sad too but their not and I'm ready for quiet, just me and the 3 year old to shop and do house stuff together.

Oldest does have a week he goes to the school in Aug to prepare for ROTC so him and I are both happy about that too except for the tons of paperwork he's going to be bringing me back to fill out lol

OP, this summer has flown by for us too. I always say it goes by too fast but this year feels like we haven't had a break.
My kids register on August 8th and their first full day is August 11th.
We're getting supplies, backpacks and clothes ready but mentally we are NOT ready!

My kids go back Aug. 12, but I have to go back on the 11th.

The kids start back on August 8; we have professional days on August 6 & 7...but I also have a workshop on the 30th. And...like other teachers posted...I've already been up to school getting my room ready, and I hope to finish next week so I can lay low for a week!

aug. 11. I hate it! when my kids first started school they would start around aug. 25 and get out the week before memorial day. Now they start aug. 11 and their last day is June 1. we have never had to go to June before. I like it starting after labor day and getting out memorial day. Its so hot here and some of the school dont have air or heat. so its useless to start back that early. for those who have year round school how do u like it? i know i would hate it b/c we really enjoy our summers off!!

Wow! We start August 5th and are considered year around schools, but July would stink for sure! Are all the schools in your city on this schedule and what kind of breaks do you get through out the year?

Our calendar allows for 3 week long breaks into the year, same amount as days as the other schools, just start 2 weeks earlier and 2 weeks later than everyone else... I hate it!

Wow, some of you go back so early. Do you have a shorter summer break or do you get out mid May?

My kids start on August 22, which I believe is a Friday (kinda odd).

I think school starts up the last week in August around here. I am a sub and I have actually been called into work the very first day of school for the past several years. Amazes me that they need subs on day one....

Our schools start August 11. This summer has just flown by. My kids have had a great time, but are getting ready to go back. My youngest starts kindergarten this year and he is so ready. I can't wait until August 6 when we find out their teachers and then meet them on the 7th.

Wow...we didn't even get out of school until June 23rd, so I feel like summer has just started. We go back Sept 3.

My kiddos go back to school September 2nd. Their last day was June 12th.

my sons are still in school till august 7 and then he starts back sept 1.

Elem. kids are year round; we got out June 22 (?) and go back August 4, so that isn't much of a summer really (but one of my elem. kids is ready to go back now she says). My 'last yr' middle schooler who will be in 7th grade this year got out late May and goes back approximately two weeks after Aug. 4 (whatever day that falls on give or take a few--she's on the traditional calendar as yr. round isn't offered past elementary). Yr. round sounds horrible I know, but it's the same amount of days in the school yr., they get breaks in Oct., Feb., and May, etc. Makes for great vacations (well, that is if the entire family is on the same school schedule which we haven't been now for 2 years going on 3) when it's not so hot and crowded everywhere.

It does seem like the summer flew by though. Add me to the list that isn't buying but a few school clothes, etc. We have had fun this summer also. Wish it was a little longer. Before we know it, it'll be Christmas.

School takes back in Aug 11th. This will be the 1st year all four of my children will attend 4 different schools in 2 different cities. 7th grade, 4th grade,2 grade and 1st grade.The 7th grader,4th grader and 1st grader all in the same city.
I can see a lot of running around between the 4 schools this year and probably a lot more driving than I have done in the past.

Summer went by way too fast this year.

The year around schools started today. I got a call this morning at 7am from one of the schools and she said do you want to work tomorrow? I sub so back to work for me.

I have my fingers crossed that I can get mine done. I had a leak in my room & it mildewed & yellowed my back wall. Want to get it crisp & clean for back to school. I have jury duty for the next 2 weeks, and could be called in any day. Hoping I am not tomorrow.
