Make a wish choice for a teen with cancer

My friend's daughter was diagnosed last year with an extremely rare form of cancer. (pleomorphic with mixoid liposarcoma) It is so rare in fact that the surgeon said he most likely will never again see it in his lifetime. They did surgery to remove as much as they could of the tumor - it was located in her abdomen and was the size of a football. Unfortunately it has come back. They removed two tumors this time, and are trying radiation.

Anyway, make a wish has called this family, and are granting a wish to the daughter. (She is 17)
She has never been to disney, and thought of this for her choice. The mom asked me which was better, Disneyland in CA or Disneywold in FL. I thought Disneyworld might be better for her because the plane trip would not be so taxing, and I thought there was more to offer around Disnyworld, like Sea World, and Universal, etc.

Now after saying this, I did not want to give her an uninformed decision. I have never been to DisneyLand. Are there lots of similar parks surrounding Disneyland as there are at Disneyworld?
What would you recommend to this family?

i HAVE BEEN TO BOTH AND DISNEYWORLD TO ME IS FAR NICER AND I AGREE THAT THE SHORTER PLANE RIDE WOULD BE BETTER FOR THEM. SORRY FOR THE CAPS.
I HOPE SHE HAS A BLAST AS THIS POOR GIRL DESERVES IT. I TOO HAVE A 17 YR OLD WITH MEDICAL ISSUES AND IT IS A TOUGH AGE BECAUSE WHEN SHE WAS LITTLE IT WAS THE LITTLE THINGS THAT MADE HER HAPPY.

I have heard that the one in Florida is nicer...but that's just what I've read. I know a 16 year old boy who just went there on a Make A Wish trip. They get a special badge to wear that allows them to go to the front of every line. He was treated extrememly well and had a wonderful trip. Good luck to your friend's daughter.

I have been to both. I think she would like Disneyworld because it is several different parks. Disneyland is in a small limited area with California Adventure (basically rides). Anyone with health problems can get a special pass to get in a special line which is usually the front. My dh had enceplalitis and then cancer. We got the pass so he would not have to stand in the heat. I think your friend's daughter would enjoy it.

I have never been to Disney World but I think it would be better. I used to work at Disneyland and although it is a magical place it's just not worth the flight and expenses unless you live near. Disneyland has California Adventure next to it, Knott's Berry Farm about 10 min away, Universal Studios (maybe 30 min away), Six Flags Magic Mountain (about 2 hours), Sea World (1 hour), San Diego Zoo (1 hour), and San Diego Wild Animal Park (1 hour) also near. I do not know if Make-A-Wish will allow/ pay for a multi park adventure though.

I recommend to anyone thats coming out here for a vacation to go to The Wild Animal Park. It is really neat to see some near extinct animals (they have 2 black rhinos there and there are only 7 left on the planet) and journey Into Africa is worth the cost (I think $20).
