Exclamation Heads Up On This Phone Scam!!!

I meant to post this yesterday, but it totally slipped my mind.

Sunday afternoon/evening I got a phone call (automated message) claiming to be from the security department of my credit union. It said my card had been suspended and to re-activate it, call 515-###-####. The message repeated itself and then disconnected the call. I thought it was a strange call because, for one, it didn't say who's card was suspended. DS lives at home with us and he has an account and card from the same credit union. I suspected it was probably a scam. And, since it was late Sunday and I wasn't planning on going shopping, I thought it best to wait until Monday and call my credit union to verify this call. Turns out it was a scam to get peoples card numbers/bank info. My credit union said the scammers called the entire town and surrounding areas.

I just wanted to make everyone aware of this scam, and you should probably let your family and friends know, too.

There is also another one. A few of us at work get this call every day, and one girl gets it at home too. A guy calls with a Middle Eastern accent and says he is from the Federal Finance Crimes Department and he is calling in regards to a bill from 1999-2005 and threatens to investigate us and arrest us at work or home. He said he is contacting us because the statute of limitations to pay our bill has run out and before he files charges against us in Fedreal Court he wants us to give him our credit card numbers to "take care of our bil" our so called bills range from $4,000-8,000.00. I came out and told him that there is no statute of limitations on paying a bill and I wanted to know what the bill is from and a copy of it to which he replied that due to it being in the hands of the Feds, he can not release that info. without a payment. I told him I refused to pay and he threatened me by saying "God help what is going to happen to you now." he has been calling constantly even after being told repeatedly not to call. The number he left with one of the other girls is a TN area code and a Memphis exchange. However, when you call back (we had a supervisor's husband who is a cop call back for us, its just constantly rings)

Good thing you were smart enough not to give out your Info, but I wonder how many people actually did. Speaking of scams I just got an email from "Pepsi" saying I won all kinds of money from somewhere over seas in one of there promotions, I know its not true and I sent the real pepsi an email letting them know there is someone using there name to scam people out of there info.
