anyone ever use "peticure" for trimming their dogs nails?

I have a very large dog that hates, and I mean hates, having his nails trimmed. I was wondering if anyone has this item and what they think of it.

Is this the one that "files" the dogs nails? I have never used it but would like one for our puppy.

Yes it is. I was just wondering if any uses anything like this & how easy it is to use. It is a dremel tool with and attachment thing from what I've read about it. I don't want to use a dremel because he has long hair & I'm afraid of it getting caught in the tool.

I'd like to know myself. My dog absolutely HATES to get her nails trimmed and she's a nervous wreck the entire time when she gets it done. Seems like whenever I take her somewhere to get them trimmed they cut one of them too short, she yelps really loud and then comes out with her nail bleeding. I try to trim them at home but she's constantly pulling her paw back while I'm trying to do it. Hopefully someone on here has this Peticure and can tell us their experiences with it. I'd rather have a more comfortable solution for both of us!

I have to wrestle both my dogs to try and get, if I'm lucky a couple nails cut. I would love to know if anyone has this, and if it works?

I guess I'll be the guinea pig on this. One of my dogs is so bad that he'll bite anyone who tries to trim his his nails, otherwise he's a very laid back dog (golden retriever). I'm buying one today & I'll let everyone know how it is.

My dog sounds like your dogs and he's such a sweet little dog! I've tried everything (ie human nail clippers, pet nail clippers, nail file, etc.). The best thing that I have found is to walk him on a gritty sidewalk that is near my house. It seems to do the trick!

Wow, this post just caught my eye. My daughter has a big dog who also hates to have the nails clipped. Also every time they do it at a vet, they seem to hit a vein. Daughter can't cut them. since then he hates to have his paws even touched. The other week she took him to one of the pet shops where you can take your dog in. Well, a lady didn't ask and bent over to try and shake the dogs paw. She grabbed it and the dog jumped up and bit her chin. The lady is ok, the state didn't file anything as they said the dog was only acting in self defense. He never did anything like that before. Daughter said she won't take the dog to any pet stores anymore. I always give the dog a bath, but am very careful when I scrub her. I thought about trying to clip, but am also afraid as these nails are very thick.

My thoughts on this though I haven't used one personally is, if you can't hold the dogs paws long enough to do a traditional trim they aren't going to sit still for this. My greyhound hates to have his nails done. The vet muzzles him and they clip them then use a dremmel like tool to file them. He hates it. The noise along with the vibration of the tool drive him insane. Plus I think it takes longer to file them down then a quick clip.

I cut my other dogs nails all the time with the traditional trimmers. I just don't think he would sit still long enough for me to file them with this tool. Plus as I said the noise alone would freak him out.

I think any tool would work if the dog would sit stilll and allow it. The peticure is fine, but if the dog fights you on it, it isn't going to work. We have a plain dremmel and have been trying to train the dog to like it, but it isn't going well

Can you give a dog benedryl to make him sleepy???

think they might have used it on my dogs nails last time, their a lot more smoother than a normal nail clipper in the past. I think shed sit for it, they said she was very good about everything they did to her. I think she was a princess in her past life cause she loves to get dolled up <bath, blow dry, nails, ears, teeth all that> and is SO excited to go

I thought you were talking about having a pedicure done on a dog!

Our church recently did VBS and the Children's Director brought her little dog "Sparkle" to each classroom and "Sparkle" had pink, glitter nail polish on her toes. My daughter was so impressed! I had to tell her that I don't think our golden boy would appreciate glitter nail polish, but it was cute.

My DH and I were just talking about this as we just saw the commercial on tv yesterday. I dont think it would work for our dogs. The vibration alone would drive them nuts and then if it made noise, that would freak them out too.

I would love to hear how it went for the person that was going to buy it and try it out but I think for our animals we are just going to pass on this.

"UPDATE"
I bought just the piece that goes over the dremel tool. My mom & dad had a dremel that they don't use. I received it Friday, and hopefully will get to try it out this week.

I tried it. Only one of my three dogs would let me near him. I'm trying to desensitize the other two to the noise. Sorry I didn't answer sooner. It's been hectic here.

I agree with others, I think the vibration and noise is going to spook the dog. If he will not sit still for a regular nail trim, I don't see them sitting still for this.
