Thumbs up

We have Allstate for home, vehicles & boat. We have extremely good coverage at a great price. The customer service has been top notch. I would highly recommend them.

We use American National Insurance solutions for auto, home, classic cars, RVs, motorcycles, boats, and so much more.

They had the lowest rates AND if you go claim free for 3 years, you start earning 25% of your premium back and you keep earning that back until you file a claim. We have home, auto and motorcycle on it

Okay so I carry a grudge, but I had Allstate 500 years ago and they treated me very bad. I would never, ever, have Allstate. And I have read lots of reviews from people who are more current with them, that echo my feelings. That said, I think companies vary from location to location. So what is a good company in one part of the country might be lousy in another. We have had good results with State Farm for many years. American Family some years back was okay and I have some friends who have them currently and like them. I live in the St. Louis area and like I said, it might depend on state laws and how the company is run in different areas. Many states maintain a list of companies and their compliance records and if you call your state insurance dept. they might be able to send you some info. or it might even be online. You need to look at the financial stability of a company because if there is a big disaster in your area, you need to know that the money is there when you need it, when thousands of others also need it. That's something else many state insurance depts. do.

We have Erie insurance out of Erie PA for both homes and six vehicles. We had one home claim in 1992 and they were fabulous. Although I don't think the premiums are the lowest but I hate to change mainly because of the vehicles. If we would change and then have a claim, we would probably get booted right out.

Both our car and homeowners insurance is with Electric Insurance. They have a website and will send you a quote. I haven't been able to find another company that even comes close to the price we pay with them. I have a friend who is an insurance agent and she can't find me anything cheaper! You do NOT have to be a General Electric employee to get insurance with them. I have never had a claim on our homeowners, but have had a claim with the car insurance. Great customer service.

We've always had Allstate up until 2 years ago. Now we have Granite State through AIG, which is a lot cheaper. Our Allstate agent was very friendly and personable, but that didn't justify the extra money IMO. In the 16 years we were with Allstate, we only had 1 claim that they had to pay out and it was over 12 years ago. It wasn't even our fault, Ford neglected to send us a recall notice and our Thunderbird caught fire and was totaled. It took 4 & 1/2 weeks for Allstate to cut us a check. (I don't know if this is the standard amount of time it usually takes because it's been our only claim.) However, unbeknownst to me, DH didn't have car rental included in our policy so we had to pay out-of-pocket the 4+ weeks of rental fees (approx $800, and I used a coupon, LOL). Yeh, I know that wasn't Allstates fault. But, I can't help but think, if we'd had car rental on our insurance, Allstate would've cut that check a lot faster so THEY wouldn't have had to pay all that money in rental fees.

The reason we switched is because, although we'd only had 1 claim in 16 years, our premiums were constantly going up. And, at one time, my SIL (who also had Allstate) filed a claim for hail damage and we did not (we only had liability at that time). When our next policy renewal came due, our premiums had went up AGAIN, but my SIL's went DOWN! I called our agent and asked him why. He said it was because of all of the hail damage claims from the previous months. Just didn't seem fair to me.

We have State Farm and have been with them forever. While our premiuns are low, in my opinion, your insurance agent is worth considering just as much as the cost of your premiums. Our insurance agent is fabulous and we have recommended several people to him -- they've all been very impressed. Two years ago he built his own small office building, so is obviously in the business for the lang haul. Find an agent who has been in the business for awhile with a good reputation and you should be satisfied. Any insurance policy is fine until you need to use it, then you want someone with YOUR best interests in mind.

We have Kemper through our local independent agent and they were great when we had a claim. I really appreciate the help and advice they gave us. We got a check from them in less than a week once things were settled with the body shop. I was very impressed.

I would do some research about Allstate if you are considering them. They just had a news story here that the insurance comissioner had to set up a special meeting to deal with all the people who had claims with allstate that were all getting denied. It evidently was getting to be a huge problem here.

We have the same insurance and are very pleased with it! We have it on our house, vehicles and boat. We have filed a couple of car claims over the years and never had any problems. This is the only insurance that I have ever had!! I have checked around over the years (I've had this insurance for over 25 years!) and have never found a cheaper policy with the deductible that we have! We will have to add our daughter to the policy soon (well, in 9 months when she can get her driver's license) and I DREAD to see how much of an increase it will be! From what I have heard, adding a teen driver is quite costly!!!!

I have had AMICA Insurance for over 30 years, and my parents had them before then, and have been very, very happy with them. I worked at one of their branches over 20 years ago, and there are still people there that I know.

We have had a few car accident claims. I don't believe we have ever had a claim with our Homeowners.

Anytime we have had a claim with the auto, it was handled quickly and to our satisfaction. We could take our car to our collision shop and they paid the shop without them having to jump through hoops. Our mechanic told us that it is a pleasure to work with them. I think that is saying alot!

I believe they are at the top of the list for customer satisfaction.

Of course, nobody likes paying insurance, so every few years my husband will want to check around for pricing. So far, he hasn't found anything better that he felt comfortable switching to.

I agree with wildwood - we had Allstate briefly and hated them. We will never have them again!

We had American Family for years and were very happy with them. We had a renters claim back before we were married and our apartment was broken into and several car claims over the years. They always paid quickly and fairly.

We now have Travelers and they are half the price of American Family. We haven't had any claims yet, but we're happy with the price!

We have had Allstate forever and they were great when we were reared a few years back. The adjuster was out at the house the next day. They paid the shop and our car was fixed in about 2 weeks and they paid for the rental car.

I was very happy with the transaction and our premium just went down. I think our car insurance is pretty reasonable. We have a new driver and even with him and 4 cars, I pay about $140 a month.

Our home owners is a good deal too. I dont remember the amount because it is wrapped into our escrow. I do know that when we got our pool last year I called and checked with them to see if we needed to do anything and we did not. I did however up my liability amount and it only was $4 a month. Good deal!
