I walked 2 miles (as much time as I had before work in the morning between putting the kid on the bus and going to work) every day for about 4 months and only lost 14 pounds. I did tone up, but with all of the healthy eating and watching what I was doing, I expected more! I'd park far away from the store doors so I had to walk more. I'd walk to the corner store and walk back with my bags instead of driving. It's very frustrating! I guess it's just hard to kick-start your metabolism after years of being inactive. I'd like to know also about the diet pills. When school starts I'll be able to walk regularly again and I'd like to see some real results!

I just read something about taking a tablespoon of apple cider vinegar before you eat to isolate the fat. I might try that one, because its almost free...There was some maple syrup and vinegar combination that helped Beyonce lose weight for her Dreamgirls role

If you do some research you will discover that the main ingredient in most of these things is Caffeine. They are a waste of money. Remember this: if there were some magical product that made a person lose weight or even some product that helps people lose weight it would be all over the medical journals, the research papers and on the front cover of every magazine and newspaper in the World. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news and reality but the only effective way to lose weight and keep it off is to limit your caloric intake and to move doing some sort of exercise almost every single day of your life. You might think I am mean bitch but on the contrary I am telling you the truth! Edited to add: if you feel you are doing everything you can and still not losing enough weight you may be eating too many calories for your body size or not doing enough exercise or eating the wrong combination of foods. Denial is what keeps most of us (myself included) fat. I have lost about 30 lbs since April simply by removing my head from my rear and admitting to myself that the amount of food I was eating was too much and the amount of exercise I was doing was too little. Look at someone who is on a lifelone successful path not Beyonce. Maple syrup and vinegar? Ask you doctor about that one. And she even says herself this is not safe for people to do. If you do it I am not saying it will kill you but unless you intend to eat this way forever the first time you put solid food in your mouth the fat will come back.

I think if any of them actually worked there wouldn't be any overweight people in the world. I tried Meridia and that didn't seem to do anything either. The only think that works is changing your mind, changing your habits, changing your life and they haven't made a pill for that yet.

It seems to me that writing down everything that you eat (I use a tiny spiral bound notebook), staying below a certain number of calories (for me 1500/day spread out over 4-5 small meals) as well as exercising more works??? As with any changes, the first week is really hard... then, it does seem to get easier and you should feel less hungry. I've been losing slowly -- 2-3 pounds a week -- but am determined to keep it off THIS time -- THIS being the second time in my life that I've had to lose more than 20 pounds! First time, I lost it fast and I didn't keep it off... ![]() Side note... If it gets to the point that I plateau and can't lose with eating and exercising as I currently am, I'll quit and be happy because there is no way that I want to eat less or exercise more than I am now! I have a friend who used Alli - she said that she was glad that she wasn't a work-away-from-home mom, since her need to have bowel movements were suddenly very frequent, and very intense. She was convinced that nobody could be truly using this method and hold down a desk type job. I'm convinced that the only way to go for lasting weight loss is Weight Watchers. But if you're in a hurry for an event, and permanence isn't the priority here, you might want to look into one of the newer diets. I wouldn't do it - I'd prefer the slow but sure way. Good luck! Tell us what you decide!

I remember watching an episode of Oprah where she said if there was a pill out there, she would know about it! With her money and connections, I do believe thats true. It really comes down to controlling what you eat and moving your butt. I do WW too
