Cool It was so hot today!

It was so hot today here 108. It is 10:20pm and it is STILL 97 degrees, so much for cooling off at night. I cannot imagine not having air conditioning, but alot of people don't. How hot has it been where you are?

I am so sick of this sweltering crap!! You can walk out my front door and immediatly feel damp because of the humidity. My power bill was $257 last month, I can't imagine what it will be like this go round, but I just can't imagine not running it as much as we do. I am so ready for the fall!!!

110.00/ 257.00 I would KILL to have such a cheap power bill. Our power bill runs 400.00+ each month YEAR AROUND. !! The house is totally electric, even with setting it on 78* all day into the night it's still this much. My dishwasher broke last month I don't want to shell out the money to buy a new one esp since the one thats broken is less than 3 yo. My husband always swore that the high power bill was due to the dishwasher. I finally got to prove to him today when the power bill came in and it was still 411.00 that the dishwasher had nothing to do with the high power bill. Plus we just replaced the AC unit with a heat pump 4 years ago this didn't even help lower the bill as it was around 390.00 back then. Our home was built in 1996, we have storm windows( double pane), The attic is insulated, I don't run any more lights than what has to be on and still we pay out the nose each month. 110.00-257.00 would be a dream bill for us.. Count your blessings is its not over 300.00...

P.s My home is 1600+ SF 3 bedrooms 2 full baths.

P.ss this is the 1st year I have told my husband to buy wood for the fireplace. I Hate Hate H-A-T-E the fireplace and in the 10 years we have lived here it's only been fired up 2 times. But if things keep getting worse and prices are not going lower I see no reason to keep shelling out 400+ monthly in the winter when we have the fireplace to use.

Have your electric company come in and tell you where you can save money. You may want to get a woodburning stove insert for your fireplace. If you just burn wood in the fireplace a lot of the heat will go up the chimmey. I just heard on the news that it is about $7 a month to keep your computer monitor on per month. Same goes for the computer and speakers. I start turning mine off when not in use. We have 3 computers.

$400 a month every month?!? Yikes! I agree have the power company come by and see what is causing that!! Maybe some faulty wiring and a power surge????

And to keep on topic... It's gonna be hot again today

Hot here too, and the humidity is bad also.

We have an 1800sq ft house 3bedrooms 2 full baths. We are also total electric! Our power bill in the summer is around $160-$180 and in the winter it goes up to between $350 and $400! We keep our air on 73. We also have a heat pump.

$400 yr round sounds horrible... Where do you live? We are in Southwestern Indiana

I think it's going to be in the triple digits today here. DS is on his way to Busch Gardens for the day. I thought about it for about two seconds, and then remembered how much fun it is to go and have sweaty, wilting kids. Needless to say, we are staying home.

I live in Arizona so I expect it to be hot....what I don't expect is the $600 electric bill that I have had for the past 2 months. I just received a letter in the mail today that the electric companay is asking for ANOTHER rate increase. There are people here living without electric so they can afford gas and food. This is crazy.
