Check your bills!

For the fourth time in two weeks, someone has tried to overcharge me for something. We had gone on a cruise and had a grandchild coming. I knew my cell phone bill would be high but not that high. After looking at the bill, I realized that I was overcharged my $65. We had stayed in a hotel in July. We were going to stay for 3 days. After the first night (in a dirty and unsafe room) we checked out. They charged us once for the one night and then for the 2 nights we did not stay (to the tune of $141.96). I had my curtains drycleaned at Safeway. ( Four simple panels ) The cashier keep looking at the tickets and pressing numbers on the resigter then said $265. They were suppose to be $63 for the whole thing but she did it times 4. Lastly, this was my dd. She had been seen a doctor for an ankle problem. They sent her a bill for $475. No mention of the $149 she already paid them. One item was not showing that the insurance paid so that was another $71. Check your bills and receipts.

Thanks for the reminder!

We go along in our daily lives taking for granted that people are going to charge us the correct prices...it never hurts to watch receipts and invoices

Wow, good for you for catching all those mistakes. Sometimes think that computerization of every transaction leads to more problems than the human errors in simple mathematical calculations that we dealt with years ago.

My big "catch" this week was to the tune of $4 at Staples where someone forgot to remove the sales flyer from a product that was no longer on sale. Since I didn't see the mistake until I was in the car, had to take items back into store, have items price checked, re-rung, manager approved, etc., etc....

I do check my bills and paymetns but unfortuantley one I didn't question enough. My electric bill doubled for June and when I called the company she suggested I call back with the meter reading. I didn't do that (I had already paid the bill and the meter was due for reading in 3 days) come to find out the reader read it wrong and I was overcharged for $161.xx. The enxt bill was for $9.55 due to the overpayment.

Now I have the reading date marked and I will be calling in and double checking the employee.

Target over charged me for four things when I went there this week. I wondered why the bill was so high and had to go to the service desk for a refund. They are remodeling the store and it is getting to look a lot like Kohls. The store is only about 3 years old.

I always check my bills. I almost always find an error if I check out at Foley's. Their items never ring up correctly so I'm always prepared. I catch a lot of overcharges on our restaurant bills too. Sometimes it's a beer or soda we didn't order or sometimes it's the wrong bill entirely! I wonder how many people pay someone else's bill? The last time we go another diners bill, our bill was supposed to be more (to the tune of over $15). I flagged down the waitress, explained it wasn't our bill but the other people had already paid and left so we got our meal $15 cheaper. I can't imagine NOT looking at my bill???

I once got charged 212.00 for a pound of potatoe salad that should of been around 4.00, I couldnt imagine why my bill was so high and realized it was the salad and the girl fixed it there. You really do need to check everything!

Yes, check them!

I was overcharged $674 last month. I had a contractor out to my house and initially, I gave them a CC# to activate my account. Then when they did the install, I paid with another card. Sure enough, they charged BOTH cards! It happened 2 months ago for $280.xx with a furniture store, too. Imagine what they'd get away with if I didn't check!

One time, my mom went to a little mom and pop restaurant and paid about $24 for her meal. The charge never showed up on that month's bill or the next months bill.... about 4 MONTHS later, the charge showed up, but for $40 more! Luckily, she keeps reciepts and itemizes EVERY bill.
