Arrow Phishing email

I was curious today and checked my junk email. While there I saw an email from Bank of America about my account. I knew right away this was a phishing scam because I don't have a BofA account. So I clicked the link and sure enough it asked for me ATM card number and password. I thought I would remind everyone that those email are out there. If you don't know how to spot a fake from the real thing you need to learn NOW!!!

I had one from Wachovia a few weeks ago telling me about 'my account'. I don't have an account at Wachovia. It even listed a phone number on the page. So just for the heck of it I called the phone number. It was an automated number that said something like 'you have reached a Wachovia number that is no longer in service'.

What worries me is that some people actually think these things are real just because it's official looking.

Thanks for the reminder, OP!

I keep getting calls at home claiming to be someone from BOA regarding my account. I am glad I don't have any type of account with BOA so I am not tempted. The economy is getting really bad so more people are giong to be getting desperate. Good reminder to keep our guard up.

I get these phishing email at least once a week. 90% of the time they are from financial institutions - including PayPal- which whom I have no account. I always forward these on to the financial institution listed in the phishing email, because, hopefully, some of these crooks will get shut down if enough people forward traceable links.

The latest one I got was I believe a work at home scam. I would be working, processing payments for a company. Just deposit the payments in my bank account, keep 10% and send the rest to the company.

Yeah right.
