I never dreamed that I would get a phone call like I did 2 days ago.

My Mother's 1st cousin is dying of lung cancer. They operated on her yesterday to relieve the pressure on her lungs and sent her home to die.They have given her less than 2 weeks. She's in her early 70's Sadly she lost her battle with cancer and died just before midnight . God rest her soul.8/09/08

My Mother's other 1st cousin is in ICU. She has had MS for many many years and it looks as if her body is finally giving up the fight. They are watching her closely at this point. She's in her early 60's.

The one that has hit us the hardest is my 1st cousin. he's was sent home yesterday from Texas ( a cancer center ) there's nothing they can do for him he's only 31 years old and is dying of lung and throat cancer ( he has never smoked a cigarette or dranked in his life )it started out her hurt his shoulder last month they operated then a lump came up on the side of his neck, they sent to have that Biopsied and it came back cancer, they then sent him to Texas 5 days ago and took x-rays and saw the cancer had traveled into his lungs there's nothing they can do now for him other than send him home which they did yesterday.All this happen in1 months time !.. from a shoulder to full blown cancer with out hope. He is a good Christian man he has 2 little boy's ages 6 and almost 2 yo's. They are holding strong as much as possible, but they gave him less than 3 months. I was jsut told a few mins ago the hospital didn't release him till today.

Me and my whole Family are in total shock over all this. Please I asked if you have faith of what ever higher power could you say a little prayer for them ? This is going to be hard for everyone. My Uncles and Aunts, Cousin's and My Mother are all taking this very hard. We all have been such a close family till us kids got married and started having kids of our own and moving away, But we all love and care for each other as if nothing has ever changed.

Oh my lord, as I was typing this my cousin ( the father ) called to say they just called to say. he probably will not make the ride home he is full blood clots and they are expecting one to break lose and hit his lung.

There is always hope. My sister has had lung cancer for over 7 years. It started as kidney cancer and then moved to her lungs. When one thing stops working, they try something else.

Three and half years ago, my dh had viral encephelitis (brain infection of the worse kind). Many people don't survive. Then a year later he had prostate cancer. The doctor thought it was small but it was an aggressive cancer. 28 months later he is still cancer free.




I will keep your family in my prayers.

WOW Congrats to your husband and you, this is wonderful news !, Sadly they are not even doing any more treatments on my cousins son.The cancer took over very fast and with in 1 month has gone from his neck to his lungs. I'm in the middle of getting updates as they come in.More than likely if he does make the trip home it will not be long become he will sub come to the cancer. My family has a terrible history with "travelers" cancer. My grandmother died from the same thing, they found a knot in her breast open her up to remove it/ closed her back up with in Min's of seeing the Cancer she died 3 weeks later . It went from her breast to her lungs in 3 weeks.. I will have to travel to Mississippi as this is where my cousin's son and his family are from. I'm assuming this will also be where he's laid to rest.
Thank- You everyone for the prayers this is all we have left. I really appreciate you taking the time. I just lost my Uncle a week ago Wed's to cancer. they DX'ed him in March he died this past weds. My family has been thu the ringer with all this. It's like we are all in a fog right now.

So sorry also about your family's situation. I know you guys must be feeling terribly overwhelmed with all of the bad news at once. DH just had a lady he worked with that was in her early 40s pass from stomach cancer. They only diagnosed it a few months ago, thought they could get it all, basically though when they opened her up they just closed her right back as it was too far gone. I am praying for you and also praying that there will soon be a major breakthrough in cancer. Seems like so many people are getting it these days.

Like another poster said -- there is always hope. Especially for your 31 year old cousin. My DH's cousin had lung cancer. It was really bad. Instead of going home to die, he fought and told the doctor to do whatever had to be done. He's recovering back home now minus one lung. He's walking on a tread mill and even went hunting not long ago.

So please tell your cousin not to give up!! He should try everything available and then more. My DH's cousin had never smoked before either. Sounds to me like the doctors have given up on him, but don't let them do that!

A small update, My Mother's cousin ( the one with cancer) passed away about 15 Min's ago. Thank- You all for keeping us in prayers and thoughts.
My Mother's other cousin is still in ICU . No word on when they will release her

My Cousin did make the trip home, But he's still not doing good at all. My cousin (his dad) said he wouldn't take but 1 pain killer last night and refuse to have a cat put in, he said as long as he was able to get out of bed and walk he would go on his own.They are still very worried about a clot breaking lose esp since he still gets out of bed to use the bathroom.( Told my cousin you can't keep a good man down no matter what ).
