"Couples" wedding shower

Tell me about this concept. Did it work? What are the mechanics? Do you still play games or have contests? Did the men have a good time?

Truly never heard of a couples wedding shower heck though with the times I personally think it would be a wonderful idea since both couples could receive gifts they could both personally use in the home and new Marriage since many men cook these days and alot of women work full time as well a very interesting theory and I think it could work , how does everyone else feel kindly share peace Catherine

I have only given one "couples shower". Us and another couple threw the shower and we did an outdoor theme as in trying to get everyone to bring items for the outdoors, the couple getting married were buying a house, neither had previously owned a house, one was moving in from their parents house, so they needed everything for the outdoors the other moving in from an apartment with a roomate. We had a BBQ, outside of course, cooked hamburgers, had raw oysters, shrimp, crab (we lived by the ocean at the time) and a bunch of sides. It was a very successful shower. The couple received a gas grill, lawn tools, lawn mower, water hoses, sprinklers, welcome mats, trash cans, power tools, tool chest, tools, chain saw, picnic stuff, lawn chairs, just tons of stuff. We were his friends, she was having two other showers where she was from and we wanted to do something geared more towards him, so this is what we came up with. Anyway, they both liked it.

I guess I should add, we did not play games, just ate visited and the couple took turns opening the gifts, he would open one, she would open one, of course alot of stuff just came with bows, kind of hard to wrap a cooler or lawnmower, those big type items just came with bows attached. We probably had about 75 people there, so we just visited, ate and they opened gifts.

Lately all bridal and baby showers in our family, and friends for that matter , have been for couples. Its worked well. Some did games some didn't. I couldn't imagine doing it any other way now.

I totally agree this way all members of a family get to be involved in what they can use personally for themselves or as a family. Peace Catherine

Ours was a couples shower 12 years ago. MY DH, my Dad, my brother and 2 other guys came. The other hubby's/friends didn't come (comfort thing?). We don't play a ton of games and none are "girly" and they appeared to have fun

My SIL and BIL had a couples shower for outdoor stuff last year. We weren't able to go (3.5 hour trek) but they are really into biking, hiking, boating, campin, etc. I heard a lot of guys came but then they played drinking games...not traditional games LOL
