In the church we had "Sunrise, Sunset" from "Fiddler on the Roof", "Color My World" by Chicago. Guess the year. Those are the two I remember.

From this moment by Shania Twain

My sisters is my favorite- its by Anne Murray called "Could I have this dance"

I'll always remember,
the song they were playing,
The first time we danced and I knew

As we swayed to the music,
and held to each other,
I fell in love with you

Chorus:
Could I have this dance
for the rest of my life,
Could you be my partner
every night,
when we're together
it feels so right,
Could I have this dance
for the rest of my life

I'll always remember,
that magic moment,
When I held you close to me

As we move together,
I knew forever,
you're all I'll ever need

Could I have this dance
for the rest of my life,
Could you be my partner
every night,
when we're together
it feels so right,
Could I have this dance
for the rest of my life

Could I have this dance
for the rest of my life,
Could you be my partner
every night,
when we're together
it feels so right,
Could I have this dance
for the rest --of --my life!!

My Aunt and Uncle had their 50th and danced to "can I have this dance" it was beautiful.
We will celebrate our 30th in January, we danced to Never My Love.
Never My Love
by Don and Dick Addrisi
You ask me if there'll come a time
when I grow tired of you;
never my love, never my love.

You wonder if this heart of mine
will lose its desire for you;
never my love,
never my love.

What makes you think love will end
when you know that my whole life
depends on you?

You say you fear I'll change my mind
I won't require you,
Never my love,
never my love.

How can you think love will end
when I've asked you to spend your
whole life with me?

Ours was "I Will Be Here" by Steven Curtis Chapman

..YouTube - I will be here - Steven Curtis Chapman

Tomorrow morning if you wake up
And the sun does not appear,
I will be here.

If in the dark we lose sight of love,
Hold my hand and have no fear,
‘Cause I will be here.

CHORUS
I will be here when you feel like being quiet;
When you need to speak your mind, I will listen.
And I will be here when the laughter turns to crying;
Through the winning, losing, and trying, we’ll be together,
‘Cause I will be here.

Tomorrow morning if you wake up
And the future is unclear,
I will be here.

As sure as seasons are made for change,
Our lifetimes are made for years,
So I will be here.

CHORUS
I will be here, so you can cry on my shoulder;
When the mirror tells us we’re older, I will hold you.
And I will be here to watch you grow in beauty,
And tell you all the things you are to me;
I will be here.

I will be true to the promise I have made,
To you and to the One who gave you to me.

As sure as seasons are made for change,
Our lifetimes are made for years,
So I, I will be here.
We'll be together and i will be here.

Those are great songs!

DH and I had the song "Come Rain or Come Shine" by Ray Charles.

Our number 2 choice was "Follow You, Follow Me" by Genesis.

Read 52 - was it 1978? It is a beautiful song. I had actually considered the song "Only the Beginning" (or "Beginnings") by Chicago - I love it! But it is so long...

1980. We were married in 1980 and had the same songs! "Sunrise, Sunset" at the wedding, and "Color My World" for our first dance.

It was 1974. It was a time when churches were opening up a little. I got married in a Catholic church. I walk it when they played "Sunrise, Sunset". It was the song used in the wedding scene in Fiddler. Color My World was at communion. We walked out of church to "Sunshine on my Shoulder". So I did not
have the traditional songs.

Gosh, that's funny. And I know you didn't mean it to be funny, but my mom asked her friend (who has the most beautiful voice) to sing that as our first dance at our reception. Holy Cow, I didn't think that song would EVER end. And neither did our guests.....Just wasn't consulted on that one. Those lyrics are so redundant. Here we are, almost 20 years later.....I guess I have this dance, for the rest of my life...

Can't Help Falling in Love -- not the UB40 version....but we used the Elvis version.

It was very us. It all happened so quickly and we just couldn't help it. and that is the best way to explain it....

YouTube - Elvis Presley - I Cant Help Falling In Love With You

In 1994 when we got married, we had a friend's daughter play "Sunrise Sunset" on her flute (or was it the clarinet--I think it was flute gosh I can't remember!). It was beautiful but man was it LONG. I think she played the extended version, ha ha. Was weird just standing up there and I could tell the guests were like, um, it'a a little long... Oh well. Then a friend of ours sang "I Will Be Here" also. It was beautiful and that song makes me cry to this day just thinking about it. We didn't have dancing, etc. at our reception so no music there. So hated to hear Steven Curtis Chapman's daughter died a few months ago, It was hard to watch him on Larry King Live. I love his music.

Ours was Paradise by Styx, off their Return to Paradise album. A lot of the words were similar to our lives and we thought it was very fitting. Originally tho, I wanted Tom Petty's 'You Wreck Me' , but dh didn't think his mother would approve.

Amazed by Lonestar

YouTube - amazed-lonestar

I walked down the isle to this song, it was also our first dance. The song hit the radio a week before we were married. Later that summer it was number 1 for about 10 weeks straight. In Aug (I think), DH did a concert for Lonestar but I was late and didn't get to hear our song. Well, DH and the sound guy worked together all day and after the band went off stage he talked to them, then they came back on stage and encored Amazed for me. The sound guy said they NEVER repeat a song like that. Then he (the sound guy) got the entire band to autograph our CD and he also got me a shirt that says "Amazed."

We got married in 1983 and our 25th anniversary is next month.

I walked down the isle to The Wedding Song (There is Love).

Our first dance was to Can I have This Dance, by Anne Murray. Neither my dh or I had ever danced before so that song felt like it lasted for hours. lol

I had to laugh at this thread. My girlfriend is working on getting married for the second time and was trying to figure out a song. We were just talking about this last night so I will show her this thread.

When I got married in 1994 at the ripe age of 19, we picked "I said I loved You But I Lied" by Michael Bolton. I can still remember the gasps from everyone when the chorus started. For those of you who dont know it, the chorus starts with I said I loved you but I lied.... This is more then love I feel inside. and it goes on. I still love the song alot. With more thought though, I guess we could have chosen a better song....

I was going through my country phase in 1995. We had two songs- "I Still Believe in You" by Vince Gill and "I Swear" by John Michael Montgomrey.
