Smile Nice things people do

I was looking out a side window this morning and noticed a guy quickly stop his car, jump out and walk to the middle of the street. I couldn't see what he was doing because a large shrub hid my view but when he got back to the sidewalk he was accompanied by a basset hound. He walked the dog down the street where he had must have seen him come from in search of the dog's "house". He was gone a good 15 minutes but came back without the dog so I guess he found where he belonged.

Being a dog owner I know how paniced I have been when my own dog has "escaped" through an open gate so I'm sure Mr. Hound's owners were beyond grateful.

Anyway, thinking there are lots of really nice people in our midst!

The very afternoon we adopted our dog from the shelter, she got away from us. She was very skittish and afraid of nearly everything, so she kept running when we'd call her. The kids were devastated. Fortunately, a very kind neighbor a few streets away found her and lured her into his fenced yard with some bread. UNfortunately, since we'd just gotten her, she had no collar for him to know where she belonged, but ultimately, a few hours later, we found each other.

My sister was feeding the stray cats by the freeway. She saw a big ugly scary biker get out of a truck and start feeding the cats. She started talking to him and his wife they have been coming for two years to feed the cats.

My DH is an otr truck driver and he is such an angel. God is constantly giving him opportunity to help others. One time he pulled an elderly woman out of a ditch. She had to "go" and her dh pulled over to the side of the highway and when she tried to go, she fell down in the ditch and her dh couldn't get to her. If anyone could have made that woman feel ok about being pulled out of a ditch with pee on your pants and the same down to your ankles it's my hubby.

Last week he entered a men's restroom and a woman asked him to check on her dh and he was in the rest room and had a terrible accident, ahem, and my dh went to his truck, got some spare clothes and watched the rr while the wife helped her dear hubby.

AND......there was a young girl our DD's age with a blown tire, far from home, no cell phone a hardly any money. He pulled over, gave the girl his cell, said "call your dad while I change your tire" then gave her his last 20 bucks (we had little money at the time) for her to get home on. Her dad called the office some time later to tell them what a nice guy they had working for them

I'm sure there are more..........sorry, just thought I'd brag....LOL

This reminds me of a time my DH stopped to help a young gal change a tire. She had stopped way to close to the road & was trying to figure out what to do. He had her move the car a little, as the tire was blown & there wasn't going to be any salvagable tire. As he was working on the car, she asked why he had stopped. He told her he had a daughter of his own & hoped that if she ever needed help, someone would stop to help her. She told him that she wished he was her father.

A few months later a woman showed up at our door looking for my husband. It turned out she was the mother of this girl and that the mother & my husband had gone to school together in a different town than what we live in.

My 85 year old grandfather walks to the mailbox everyday for exercise. (They have a LONG driveway WAY out in the country). He fell and could not get up one day. Two men on motorcycles happen to drive by and see him. They turned around and came back, helped him up, made sure he was ok, walked him back to the house and called my uncle to let him know what happened. They stayed with my grandfather until my uncle got there.

We have no idea who these motorcyclists were. They were just out sightseeing that afternoon. I will always be thankful for them!
